Secured solar loan
Borrow up to USD 75,000 for solar panels at home, with a property lien securing the loan and repayment terms up to 25 years.

Matadors Community Credit Union lends money for solar-only home installations. You repay the loan with interest at a fixed rate. This option has a UCC1 lien recorded on the property: a recorded security claim tied to the loan.
No down payment is required, and there is no penalty for paying the loan off early. Payments are deferred for the first 90 days, but interest accrues from the date the loan is funded. Terms can run up to 25 years.
The advertised rate includes a 0.50 percentage-point discount for automatic payments. A fee to reduce the interest rate may apply. The quoted preferred rate requires a FICO credit score of at least 720; other rates and terms are available.
Eligibility
You must qualify for membership and pass the credit union’s credit and income assessment. Loan approval is subject to credit approval.
You can qualify for membership by living, working or worshipping in one of the Southern California communities listed on the membership page. Other routes cover current California State University Northridge students or faculty/staff, CSUN Alumni Association members, California Federation of Teachers members and their families, and immediate family of existing credit union members.
If you do not qualify through a community, CSUN or family relationship, you can join the CSUN Arts Council with a donation of at least USD 5. The credit union helps with this when you open your account.
