Energy efficiency investment grant
A grant for businesses and qualifying landlords to improve heating, lighting and energy efficiency at eligible workplaces in Västerbotten.

You can receive up to 40% of approved investment costs, capped at SEK 240,000. The investment must cost between SEK 100,000 and SEK 600,000. You may apply at most once a year; meeting the conditions does not guarantee an award.
The grant covers replacing an oil boiler, electric boiler or direct electric heating as the primary heat source. The stated priority is district heating first; ground-, earth- or lake-source heating, wood chips or pellets second; and air-to-water or air-to-air heating third. Replacing older lighting with efficient LED lighting is also eligible.
Other measures include heat exchangers, ventilation units, heat recovery, additional insulation or building work, and solar panels. For these measures, contact your municipality’s energy and climate adviser to confirm the investment’s benefit, or provide an energy audit describing its need and effect.
Eligibility
- The business must be small or medium-sized, counting its corporate group. It must have at least one full-time employee paid according to a collective agreement or equivalent terms, and operate full-time in the premises.
- The investment must concern a fixed workplace in Bjurholm, Dorotea, Lycksele, Malå, Norsjö, Sorsele, Storuman, Vilhelmina, Vindeln, Vännäs, Åsele, Robertsfors or Nordmaling. In Skellefteå municipality, only Jörn, Fällfors and Kalvträsk are eligible; in Umeå municipality, only Holmön is eligible.
- A property owner other than a public property owner may apply if the tenant businesses meet these size, location, employment and full-time operating conditions.
- Support is normally unavailable to grocery shops and fuel stations, businesses predominantly financed by public funds, and agriculture or fishing businesses. The agriculture and fishing exclusion has an exception for investments in processing a product or service.
- Purchases from relatives, friends or affiliated or closely connected companies are not approved.

Apply to Region Västerbotten through the dedicated Min ansökan link. Log in, preferably with BankID, complete the relevant questions and attach a current registration certificate, investment quotations, a loan commitment or equivalent, and any applicable energy audit. If someone other than the authorised signatory signs, attach a power of attorney. Bank, Almi or Norrlandsfonden co-financing needs supporting confirmation.
Region Västerbotten must receive your application before you start or order the investment. Once receipt is confirmed, you may begin at your own risk while awaiting a decision. If preliminary support is granted, complete the investment within one year. The application may be discussed with your local energy and climate adviser.
Claim payment through Min ansökan after you have paid the costs. Attach the completed expenditure schedule, copies of the invoices and proof that your business paid them.
