State Bank of IndiaIndiedo 600 tys. INR

Borrow up to ₹600,000 to install rooftop solar at your home in India, with an upfront contribution of 10% of project cost.

Ta możliwość jest obecnie dostępna po angielsku.

You contribute at least 10% of the project cost upfront. SBI pays the loan and your contribution directly to a vendor or installation contractor registered on the national portal, after receiving the required feasibility reports. The financed equipment serves as security for the loan.

Repayment can run for up to 10 years, including a six-month repayment grace period, called a moratorium, starting when SBI pays out the loan. Age limits can shorten that period. There is no minimum repayment period, processing fee or early repayment penalty.

Interest floats with SBI’s external benchmark lending rate: the loan rate is 2.15 percentage points below that benchmark for loans up to ₹200,000, and equals the benchmark for loans above ₹200,000 up to ₹600,000. The bank’s published examples, dated 15 December 2025, are 5.75% and 7.90% a year respectively; these can change.

The loan must be repaid. Any PM Surya Ghar subsidy is a separate claim you make through the national portal using your loan account number, and must be credited to that loan account.

Eligibility

  • You must be an Indian resident aged at least 18, own a suitable rooftop and have rights to install on it. It must have enough roof area under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) requirements, and an active household electricity connection. You must not have received a prior solar panel subsidy. The installation can be up to 10 kW.
  • For a single-name application, the maximum application age is 65, and the loan must close before you turn 70. Joint applications allow an application age up to 75, but the loan must close before the co-borrower turns 75.
  • You need an SBI savings account. New customers can open one and apply.
  • For loans up to ₹200,000, there is no minimum income or CIBIL credit score. People new to borrowing can apply. A default or written-off debt recorded in CIBIL excludes you. For loans above ₹200,000 up to ₹600,000, your net annual income must be at least ₹300,000 and your CIBIL credit score at least 650. CIBIL is the credit record SBI checks when assessing your borrowing history.
  • PAN, the tax identification number, is mandatory for loans above ₹200,000. The bank also requires income proof for that band, such as salary or pension records, two years of tax returns or two years of Form 16 records from your employer.
  • For a loan up to ₹200,000 and an installation of 1–3 kW, insurance is optional. SBI’s loan FAQ requires insurance for loans above ₹200,000, at your expense. Its installation covenants also require insurance for the full installation cost when capacity exceeds 3 kW, with the cost borne by you.

  • First register at PM Surya Ghar, then apply through Jan Samarth. New customers may open an SBI savings account and apply.[^c7][^c12]

Register your installation first at the PM Surya Ghar national portal. Once registration succeeds, apply for the loan through Jan Samarth. SBI offers both self-service and assisted applications; new customers can open the required SBI savings account.

Use a vendor or installation contractor registered on the national portal. Supply the required feasibility reports for direct payment to that vendor, and provide PAN and income proof when borrowing above ₹200,000. Claim any subsidy separately through PM Surya Ghar with your loan account number so it is credited to the loan account.
