National Home Energy Upgrade Scheme
Fixed grants for Irish homeowners, private landlords and approved housing bodies completing a substantial home energy upgrade through a registered One Stop Shop.

A One Stop Shop assesses the home, applies for the grants, manages contractors and deducts the support from the price upfront. Eligible measures include insulation, windows and doors, heat pumps, heating controls, solar energy, ventilation and airtightness.
Grant values depend on the measure and dwelling type. For a detached house, examples include €6,500 for a heat-pump system and €8,000 for external wall insulation; a home energy assessment can receive €350.
Eligibility
- The home must have been built and occupied before 2011.
- The completed upgrade must reach Building Energy Rating B or better. It must also either include a heat pump or improve primary-energy performance by at least 100 kWh/m² per year.
- The same measure or home energy assessment cannot already have received support under an SEAI or other grant programme.
Homes covered by Ireland’s defective-concrete-block remediation scheme have specific exceptions. The pre-2011 rule does not apply, and some homes where work began or finished before 13 June 2024 can also be exempt from the usual One Stop Shop, prior-approval and duplicate-support rules.

- A registered One Stop Shop must apply for the grant before work starts.
Choose an SEAI-registered One Stop Shop and agree a written contract. The provider applies to SEAI as your agent. Wait for the grant offer before work or purchases begin; costs incurred earlier are ineligible. The One Stop Shop completes the work, arranges the final energy rating and deducts the grant from your invoice.
