Rebates help City Utilities residential, multifamily and new-construction customers buy efficient heating and cooling equipment or a connected smart thermostat.

Ta możliwość jest obecnie dostępna po angielsku.

City Utilities pays a rebate after you buy and install qualifying ENERGY STAR equipment. The rebate cannot exceed its purchase price.

  • Central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps: $400 at a published SEER2 rating of 15.2, $450 at 16–17, or $500 at 18 or higher. SEER2 measures seasonal cooling efficiency. All central air conditioners need at least 12 EER2; air-source heat pumps need at least 11.7 EER2 and 7.8 HSPF2. These measure cooling efficiency and seasonal heating efficiency. Ratings come from the AHRI performance certificate and are not rounded.
  • Natural-gas furnaces: $350 at 95% AFUE or $400 at 96% or higher. AFUE is the share of fuel converted into useful heat.
  • Geothermal heat pumps: $1,025. Closed-loop water-to-air systems need at least 17.1 EER and 3.6 COP; closed-loop water-to-water systems need at least 16.1 EER and 3.1 COP. These ratings measure cooling and heating efficiency.
  • Smart thermostats: $75, limited to the purchase price. The thermostat must carry the ENERGY STAR label and be installed and connected to the internet through Wi-Fi.

Eligibility

You must be the customer of record for an active City Utilities account with no overdue balance. Electric-service residential, multifamily and residential new-construction customers can claim for qualifying air conditioners and heat pumps. The furnace rebate requires natural-gas service; thermostat customers may have electric and/or natural-gas service.

  • Buy new qualifying equipment; leased equipment is excluded. Heating and cooling systems must meet ENERGY STAR qualifications. A rebate cannot replace an HVAC system rebated within the past 10 years, or a smart thermostat rebated within the past seven years. Replacing a programmable thermostat with a smart thermostat is allowed.
  • Before HVAC installation, your contractor must perform a Manual J or equivalent load calculation to work out the equipment size your home needs. The system must be sized under the Air Conditioning Contractors of America HVAC Quality Installation Specifications. Submit the calculation summary; City Utilities may request the complete report. Obtain an AHRI Certificate of Certified Product Performance, which records the installed equipment's certified performance. Without the certificate or its number, the rebate is denied.
  • Central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps must be 2–5 tons, a measure of capacity. Replace both the condenser and evaporator coil on the same date. Partial replacements, window or single-room units and ductless systems are excluded; mini-split heat pumps are also excluded.
  • Natural-gas furnaces must include the burners, heat exchangers, blowers and heating-duct connections. Size two-stage furnaces according to their second stage. Electric, oil and propane furnaces are excluded.
  • For each of air conditioners, air-source heat pumps and gas furnaces, single-family residential customers and new construction may claim two rebates per home. New-construction developments and multifamily units may claim six units per programme year, with two per service address, for each equipment category.
  • Geothermal heat pumps must be 2–6 tons. Single-family residential customers may claim one rebate; multifamily and new-construction customers may claim three per programme year, limited to one per service address.
  • Thermostats are limited to two per residential customer. New-construction developments and multifamily units may claim six per programme year, with two per service address. Participants must properly dispose of old thermostats containing mercury.

Contractors must properly dispose of or recycle project waste, including refrigerant. City Utilities may inspect the installation. If qualifying heating and cooling equipment is absent, it will recover the rebate by debiting the electric account. It gives no warranty or guarantee of equipment performance or energy savings.
