Bicycle, pedelec and cargo-bike purchase subsidy
Luxembourg residents can claim a grant for an eligible new bicycle, pedal-assisted bicycle or cargo bike bought for private use.
Ta możliwość jest obecnie dostępna po angielsku.
The subsidy reimburses 50% of the purchase price excluding VAT, up to €600 for a conventional bicycle or pedelec25 and €1,000 for a cargo bike.
Eligible invoices end on 30 June 2026. You must apply within one year of purchase, so claims for eligible purchases can continue until 30 June 2027; your own deadline may be earlier. A bicycle or pedelec subsidy can be combined with the subsidy for vehicles subject to registration.
Eligibility
- You must live in Luxembourg and buy a new bike for personal use. Adults and minors qualify; a legal guardian applies for a minor. The form also provides for protected adults represented by their legal administrator.
- A subsidy is available at most once every five years per person, counted from the invoice date.
- Conventional bicycles and pedelec25 bikes qualify for invoices issued from 1 January 2019 through 30 June 2026. The €600 limit applies to purchases from 11 May 2020. For invoices from 1 October 2024, you must receive the cost-of-living allowance or energy allowance in the year of purchase.
- A pedelec25 combines pedalling with an electric motor of no more than 250 watts. The motor must stop at 25 km/h or when you stop pedalling.
- Cargo-bike invoices must be dated from 1 October 2024 through 30 June 2026. No cost-of-living or energy allowance is required. The bike must be a conventional bicycle or pedelec25 with an inseparable facility for carrying passengers or goods in front of or behind the rider and a payload capacity of at least 140 kg.
- Bikes intended for resale or export are excluded. Electric scooters, hoverboards, solowheels and other urban board-sport devices do not qualify. You may buy the bike in Luxembourg, abroad or online.

- Only purchases with eligible invoices through 30 June 2026. Apply within one year of purchase; the final possible date does not replace your earlier individual deadline.
Apply within one year of purchase through MyGuichet.lu or send the signed French form and documents to Administration de l’environnement, Subsides et aides financières, 1, avenue du Rock’n’Roll, L-4361 Esch-sur-Alzette. Online applications require LuxTrust, eID or eIDAS authentication and a private eSpace; for a minor, use the guardian’s private eSpace.
Attach the paid invoice showing its number and date, your name, the purchase price excluding VAT and “cycle au sens du Code de la route”, or other proof of the qualifying bicycle type. Include a bank account identification document (RIB). Prove payment with a dated invoice stamped by the shop and signed by the seller, or a debit notice or card statement.
For an ordinary bicycle or pedelec25 bought from 1 October 2024, attach the National Solidarity Fund decision granting the allowance for the purchase year. For a cargo bike, attach its technical sheet showing payload. A guardian or legal administrator signs for a minor or protected adult. Incomplete applications are returned; processing can take several months.
