Members can finance solar panels, batteries and installation with a fixed-rate loan without using their home’s equity.

First New York works directly with your chosen certified solar vendor and combines the solar costs into one loan. There is no down payment or application fee, and no penalty for repaying the loan early.
You repay the borrowed money with interest through monthly payments. Published fixed annual percentage rates (APR) are 4.74% for five years, 4.99% for ten years, 5.74% for fifteen years and 5.99% for twenty years. These rates already include a 0.25 percentage point discount for automatic loan payments. Your offered rate may vary; advertised rates can change and the loan requires approval.
Eligibility
- You must be eligible for First New York membership. You qualify if you live, work, worship or attend school in Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Saratoga or Schoharie County, or if you are related to an existing member.
- Use a certified solar vendor. First New York works directly with the vendor you choose.
- All loans require approval.
