Dual-fuel heat pump rebate

Darke Rural Electric CooperativeOhio

A $600 rebate per qualifying dual-fuel heat pump for members installing heating and cooling in a building supplied by Darke REC.

Ta możliwość jest obecnie dostępna po angielsku.

An add-on electric heat pump works with an oil, gas or propane furnace to provide winter heat and summer cooling. This rebate covers new dual-fuel heat pumps in homes, offices and other buildings, including new and existing structures.

Darke REC pays $600 per qualifying unit by check after inspecting or confirming the installation. The unit must be ENERGY STAR-qualified when installed: check its qualification against the current ENERGY STAR heat-pump specifications. A residential member home can receive at most two rebates. For new construction, payment may go to the builder or dealer.

Eligibility

  • You must be a Darke REC member who owns the building, and the building must use Darke REC electricity. Residential and non-residential buildings can qualify. The cooperative serves members in Darke, Preble and Mercer counties in west central Ohio; eligibility depends on its electricity service rather than simply being in one of those counties.
  • Install the equipment between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027. The heat pump must be a central or ductless mini-split system meeting current minimum federal appliance efficiency standards, and it must be ENERGY STAR-qualified at installation.
  • Use a dealer approved by Darke REC. Equipment must be rated under ARI (Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Institute) test standards and certified by ARI, CSA (Canadian Standards Association) or another nationally recognized testing organization. This means the equipment needs a tested performance rating and certification from one of those organizations. Central systems must have correctly sized ductwork.
  • Wiring must meet Darke REC’s requirements concerning second meters and possible future load-control switches, which allow the cooperative to manage electricity demand. It must also comply with the National Electric Code and applicable local or Ohio Electric Code requirements.
  • The dealer’s sales and installation agreement must provide an owner’s manual and operating instructions, installation instructions and warranties, and an offer of a maintenance-service contract.

Funding is limited and allocated first come, first served. The offer ends if funds run out or the programme is discontinued; the Board reviews continuation annually.
