Contrarian Ventures invests €1–4 million in early-stage climate-tech companies. This is venture capital: the investment is an equity or equity-type stake in a private company, rather than a grant or loan.
The fit form covers green energy, transport, the built environment, industry, carbon and other climate technology. Contrarian Ventures assesses the company's expected climate impact and environmental, social and governance risks before deciding whether to invest.
Eligibility
Your company should fit these points:
- Contrarian Ventures' current investment focus covers founders in Europe and the United States.
- Pre-Seed and Seed are its stated stages.
- Your company must be working in climate technology. Food and agriculture are excluded.
- The technology should have climate impact that can be assessed during due diligence.
If an investment is approved, the company must agree impact targets with Contrarian Ventures and continue to assess, monitor and report relevant environmental, social and governance factors while the investment is held.

Before investing, Contrarian Ventures evaluates whether the company matches its investment thesis and carries out an environmental, social and governance risk assessment that includes expected climate impact.
