Power Forward heat pump rebate
Rebates of $500–$2,000 help Sioux Falls City Light & Power customers install new electric heat pumps in homes and commercial buildings.

The rebate is a fixed amount for the eligible equipment you install:
- $1,000 for a ducted air-source split-system heat pump of at least 2 tons that is the main source of heating and cooling.
- $2,000 for a ducted air-source heat pump of at least 2 tons with a backup electric furnace or boiler. The heat pump must be the main source of heating and cooling.
- $500 for a non-ducted mini-split heat pump of at least 1 ton.
- $2,000 for a geothermal heat pump that is the primary source of heating and cooling. Any backup heat source must also be electric.
Rebates are first come, first served, depend on available funds and may change or end without notice. The local electric utility chooses how to issue payment; allow up to 90 days for delivery. You may apply for multiple city rebates if you qualify for each.
Eligibility
You must be an electrical customer of Sioux Falls City Light & Power; being elsewhere in South Dakota does not qualify you. The application covers existing buildings and new construction, with residential, commercial, small-business, multifamily and industrial uses.
Equipment must be new, purchased during 2026 and installed by December 31, 2026. Apply during 2026 by the application deadline. If replacing old equipment, properly remove and dispose of it and provide proof of proper disposal.
Heartland Energy and participating utilities may carry out random checks of compliance. You are responsible for any tax liability arising from the rebate.

Download the 2026 heat pump application, complete the customer, equipment and installing-contractor details, and sign the certification that your information is accurate and that you agree to the terms.
Attach an itemized invoice showing the manufacturer, model numbers, size or capacity, installation date and installation address. Include original purchase receipts and proof of proper disposal when replacing old equipment.
