Home efficiency rebates
Rebates for members with permanent electric service in Colorado installing efficient air-source heat pumps in existing homes or buildings.

Air-source heat pumps use electricity to move heat for heating and cooling. This entry covers mini-split and ducted air-source systems installed as a retrofit.
For a mini-split system, the rebate is $250 for capacity up to and including 2 tons, or $500 above 2 tons. For a ducted system, it is $500 up to and including 2 tons, or $1,000 above 2 tons. Tons are the equipment capacity used to determine the payment.
United Power pays the rebate by check; allow six to eight weeks for processing. Rebates depend on available funds, and submitting an application does not guarantee payment.
Eligibility
- You must be a United Power member receiving permanent electric service. Its service territory is along Colorado’s north-central Front Range; this is not a statewide rebate. Commercial and industrial members can also qualify.
- Install a qualifying cold-climate/high-efficiency air-source heat pump to replace equipment or retrofit an existing home or building. New construction is excluded.
- The system must have capacity of at least 1 ton. Its HSPF2 heating-efficiency rating must be at least 8.5 for a non-ducted system or 8.1 for a ducted system, and its SEER2 cooling-efficiency rating must be at least 15.2. Check the rating requirements with United Power’s Energy Solutions team before purchasing.
- You can receive one unit rebate per member in a rolling 12-month period. United Power may inspect the installation.

After installation, submit the online Home Efficiency Rebate Application within 90 days. Include an invoice showing the equipment brand, model number and itemized equipment and labour costs; an AHRI equipment certificate; a close-up photo of the equipment faceplate; and a photo showing the full installation. Complete the form by pressing SUBMIT.
