Home energy loan
Unsecured loans of A$4,000–50,000 for eligible home-energy upgrades, with discounted fixed or variable interest and a separate concession for eligible CommBank mortgage customers.
Esta oportunidade está atualmente disponível em inglês.
Borrow to buy or install eligible home-energy equipment, then repay the loan with interest in weekly, fortnightly or monthly instalments over one to seven years. No asset security is required. The fixed and variable options are components of the same home-energy discount.
CommBank’s published energy-discounted annual interest rates, current at 22 September 2026 and subject to change, are 7.24–8.74% fixed or 6.98–8.48% variable. The ordinary options charge A$15 a month. The current A$250 establishment-fee waiver requires both application and funding between 18 August and 9 October 2026. These are interest rates; fees add to the borrowing cost.
Eligible existing CommBank home-loan or investment-loan customers can instead receive 4.24% fixed interest, no establishment or monthly service fee, and waiver of the early-repayment adjustment. This excludes Viridian Line of Credit limits and Equity Unlock for Seniors loans; the financed purchases must qualify and cannot be EV or plug-in hybrid cars.
Fixed rates give fixed repayments. Extra fixed-loan payments cannot be withdrawn again. Outside the mortgage-customer waiver, an early-repayment adjustment applies if the loan is fully repaid with at least 12 months left and the bank reasonably estimates a loss or administrative cost. Its current fee page lists A$15, with the amount subject to the stated cost limit and individual payout calculation. If a balance remains after the fixed-rate period, the standard variable rate applies. Variable-loan repayments can change with interest rates, but unlimited extra repayments carry no additional repayment fee and available advance payments can be accessed through redraw.
Both fee schedules list a possible A$20 late-payment fee on the fifth business day after a missed due date if the loan was still in arrears at the end of the previous business day. Two settlement cheques are free; additional cheques cost A$15 each.
Eligibility
You must be over 18, live in Australia, be eligible to work there, and be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or holder of an eligible visa. You must be employed or receive regular income, have a good credit rating and not be going through bankruptcy. Approval depends on the bank’s credit assessment.
Use the borrowing only for eligible energy-efficient purchases. Solar panels must be at least 6 kW and batteries at least 5 kWh; required inverters can be included. Virtual power plants must connect solar and battery systems to manage energy use. Heat-pump and solar hot-water systems must be at least 250 litres. For the solar-and-battery equipment group, the vendor/installer must have New Energy Tech Consumer Code approval and Solar Accreditation Australia accreditation: these are provider and installer requirements, not substitutes for the equipment minima.
Other eligible purchases are replacement of gas cooking with all-electric equipment, LED lighting, energy-saving smart controls/home automation, energy-efficient window treatments such as double glazing, and home EV charging stations. Normally provide an invoice identifying the product/system and vendor or installer. The selected-provider route, such as Brighte, has an invoice exception.
You cannot increase or refinance an existing CommBank home energy loan. Borrowing for other purposes uses ordinary personal-loan pricing rather than this discount.
How to apply

- Datas não anunciadas
Check the product and installer rules before choosing equipment. Use “Get my rates & apply” on the official page and select “Energy-efficient purchases” as the purpose; submit the quote or invoice so the discount can be applied once conditions are met. New customers create their profile and verify identity through the CommBank app. The bank may ask for identity, visa/passport, income and other-debt documents.
Brighte is optional: it connects customers with vendors and handles marketplace quoting and installation coordination. If your quote came through Brighte, choose “CommBank Financing Options” there to complete the application. The bank decides credit approval and supplies the loan contract.
Funding is generally released after installation and completion of required documentation and checks. For Brighte applications, you sign the loan contract, the vendor schedules installation, and funding follows confirmed completion. The live application route remains available; the 9 October 2026 date concerns the ordinary establishment-fee promotion and requires funding as well as application by that date.
