Investment and coaching for companies typically at Pre-Seed or Seed stage that already have a working prototype and at least three full-time employees, to win early customers, launch products or enter new markets.

Use the funding and coaching for a business initiative such as launching a product, entering a new market or finding and selling to early customers.
Elemental decides the amount and arrangement case by case. It may become a part-owner directly; use a SAFE, an agreement for possible future ownership; use a convertible note, a loan that can later turn into ownership; provide other debt; or combine these approaches. Debt means your company owes borrowed money. Depending on the agreement, it may be repaid or converted into ownership; the timing, interest and other obligations depend on Elemental’s negotiated terms. Elemental can release the investment in stages when the company reaches specified results. For roughly nine months, the chief executive and relevant team members normally spend two to four hours each week on coaching, workshops and putting the work into practice.
Eligibility
Your company must:
- be a for-profit business operating independently, not a startup acquired by another company;
- have a novel business model or technology that can deliver substantial environmental and local benefits;
- have at least three full-time employees; and
- have a working prototype.
Environmental benefits can include reducing greenhouse-gas emissions, pollution or waste, or improving food security, biodiversity or clean-water infrastructure. Elemental also looks for local benefits such as jobs, local economic opportunities, more affordable energy or better health outcomes.
Elemental describes the usual fit as an early-stage company, typically at Pre-Seed or Seed stage. That stage is typical rather than mandatory; the working-prototype and staffing requirements above are mandatory. Consulting firms and nonprofits are not eligible.
Companies can be based anywhere and do not need to relocate, but in-person participation is required. Elemental brings portfolio companies together for events during the year, and the chief executive and at least one other leadership team member must participate in all programme activities during the company’s first two years in the portfolio.
