Heat pump electrical conversion grant
Stadtwerke Erkrath customers can receive up to €500 for electrical installation upgrades needed for a new heat pump in an existing Erkrath building.

The one-time grant helps pay for altering or renewing meter positions or the customer’s electrical installation where these do not meet current standards. The work must be connected with installing an electric heat pump. Heat pumps use heat from air, groundwater or the ground to heat a building, using electricity to operate.
Eligibility
- You must be a Stadtwerke Erkrath customer.
- The electric heat pump must be newly installed in Erkrath and must not yet be operating.
- The property must already exist; new buildings are excluded.
- There must be no district-heating connection, and the installation must be outside a designated district-heating area.
- The supported electrical conversion concerns meter positions or customer installations that do not meet current standards.

Apply through Stadtwerke Erkrath’s “Jetzt Förderung beantragen” online form before starting the work and before the heat pump enters operation. Submit the invoice for the electrical conversion work to receive payment.
You must also register operation of the heat pump with the local electricity network operator. If you use groundwater or the ground as your heat source, check the applicable permissions with the Lower Water Authority at Kreis Mettmann before proceeding.
