EV chargepoint grant for households with on-street parking
Get 75% towards a home electric-vehicle charging socket, up to £500, if you own or rent your UK home, rely on street parking and install a permitted way to route the charging cable across the pavement.

The grant covers buying and installing one charging socket. Your installer deducts the grant from your invoice and claims payment from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). You pay the remaining cost rather than receiving the grant as cash.
You must also arrange the cross-pavement equipment: for example, a permanent channel built into the pavement that holds your cable while the car charges. This grant is for the chargepoint itself, not funding or permission for the pavement works.
You and your installer must cooperate with audits, including requests for information or a site visit. OZEV may withhold or reclaim the grant if you do not.
Eligibility
- You must own or rent and live in the installation property in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Properties in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man are excluded.
- You must not have private, exclusive access to off-street parking, such as a driveway, garage or residential car park. Street parking must generally be available outside or near your home, be lawful and not obstruct safe traffic or pedestrian movement. The grant does not reserve or guarantee a parking space.
- You must install a permanent cross-pavement charging solution alongside the chargepoint. Temporary cable covers and mats do not qualify. Your local highways authority must consent to the installation; not all authorities approve these solutions. Do not install equipment on the public road network yourself.
- Obtain all required planning permissions for both the chargepoint and pavement solution. Before applying, obtain any necessary landlord, freeholder, managing-agent or private-road-owner permission.
- Your vehicle must be on the OZEV-approved list. You can be its registered keeper—the person responsible for road tax and MOT—lease it, have it assigned as a company car, be named by your employer as its primary user, or have it on order.
- If your vehicle lease includes a chargepoint, it must give you ownership of the chargepoint once payment is complete, separately list the chargepoint and installation costs including VAT, meet the grant's warranty requirements and include a vehicle lease of at least six months.
- You cannot apply for an already-installed chargepoint, replace your current chargepoint or move one to a new property. People moving or planning to move cannot apply. You cannot have already claimed a grant for the residence under the renters or flat owners grant, Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme or Domestic Recharge Scheme.
- Mandatory chargepoint or infrastructure installations and infrastructure already paid for by another grant are excluded.
- OZEV-authorised installers and installer representatives cannot apply themselves. Their directors and employees may apply only if an independent business carries out the installation, with no financial, operational or other involvement on their part.

- The listing gives a closing time of 11:00pm on 31 March 2027.
- Do not install the chargepoint before OZEV confirms you are eligible.
- The government may end or change the scheme.
- Obtain the necessary third-party permissions and your local highways authority's consent for the pavement solution. Get a quote from an OZEV-approved chargepoint installer and choose an eligible chargepoint model. Use the official eligibility page to check the approved vehicle list; show your installer proof that you own or lease your vehicle, where applicable.
- Select ‘Start new application’ on the official Find a grant page and create an account if needed. Complete and submit the form yourself using your own contact details—not through your installer. Supply evidence of highways consent and declare that you will obtain the required planning permissions.
- Wait for the email confirming your eligibility and the letter setting out the grant terms and installation instructions. Do not install your chargepoint before OZEV confirms you are eligible.
- After both the pavement solution and chargepoint are installed, your installer deducts the grant from your invoice and submits the claim, including installation photographs and the invoice or contract. OZEV pays your installer if it approves the claim.
