Go Green loan for SMEs

NLB BankaMontenegroaté 1 M EUR

Loans for SMEs registered or primarily active in Montenegro investing in green technology, with a grant after successful completion and verification.

Esta oportunidade está atualmente disponível em inglês.

Use the EBRD SME Go Green Programme to invest in greener equipment and business practices, including eligible renewable-energy and agribusiness projects. NLB Banka provides a loan that you repay monthly or on a schedule reflecting seasonal business income. Loans can run for up to 120 months, with a grace period of up to 12 months from disbursement.

Simple projects using the list of eligible technologies (LET) can borrow up to €300,000. Complex projects use loans above €300,000 and up to €1 million, with consultant support to prepare an investment plan.

After successful completion and verification, the grant is 15% for eligible renewable-energy or agribusiness projects and 10% for other eligible investments. It is calculated on the lower of the loan paid out to you and the verified investment amount, excluding VAT. This grant is separate from the loan you must repay.

For LET projects, construction, ancillary equipment, transport and installation costs must relate directly to putting eligible equipment into use. These costs can qualify up to 20% of the value of the relevant equipment and require contracts, invoices and payment evidence during verification.

Eligibility

  • Your SME must be registered or primarily active in Montenegro and meet NLB Banka’s creditworthiness requirements.
  • You must have fewer than 250 full-time employees over the year and either annual turnover no higher than €50 million or an annual balance-sheet total no higher than €43 million. The forms ask for your latest financial statements and details of owners and related enterprises with holdings of at least 25%.
  • The programme consultant assesses whether your proposed investment meets EBRD Green Economy Transition (GET) criteria. Provide equipment specifications and energy-performance information so the consultant can assess the proposed technology and its environmental benefits. Complex projects also involve preparing an investment plan and reviewing compliance with national and EU environmental, workplace-safety, product-safety and management standards.
  • Only investment costs incurred after signing the loan contract qualify for programme financing and the grant calculation. You must not receive or expect another grant for the same investment.
  • For LET projects, confirm legal compliance and that your business has the required approvals and permits. Renewable electricity must be used by the producer and must not be sold under preferential feed-in tariffs. Tell the consultant before changing planned equipment, because replacement equipment may be ineligible.
  • Disclose previous SME Go Green loans or grants in the LET form. For complex projects, disclose applications made through another partner financial institution, including rejected applications or applications awaiting a positive response. The forms also require consent for EBRD, the consultant and EU to publish project information, including your company’s name.

  • Subject to bank creditworthiness and programme investment assessment.

Contact NLB Banka through the Go Green product page’s callback form; it accepts requests from businesses that are not already clients. Complete the LET or complex-project application form appropriate to your investment. Enter investment amounts excluding VAT, customs duties and other tax charges.

The bank lists a completed credit request, payment of the credit-register access charge and signed consent, certified company accounts for the last two years (and an interim statement if needed), and a business or investment plan. The current legal-entity tariff charges €3 per credit-register query.

For a LET project, after buying the equipment, give the bank or project consultant the equipment contract or warranty evidence, invoices, bank statements for each invoice, and the bank’s completed incentive-payment request. Verification follows project completion; the grant amount is then determined.
