Rainwater disconnection grant

Gemeente VenloPaíses Baixos

Private landowners in Venlo can receive €11 per m² to disconnect rainwater from the sewer on parcels with at most 300 m² of sewer-connected paved surface.

Esta oportunidade está atualmente disponível em inglês.

Disconnect existing roofs, paved drives or other hard surfaces so rainwater stays on your land instead of entering the sewer. The grant described here covers disconnecting at least 10 m² on a parcel whose total paved surface legally connected to the sewer is no more than 300 m². Individuals and private legal entities that own the parcel can apply.

The municipality pays €11 for each m² disconnected, within six weeks of the award. This is a grant: the municipality can reduce it for noncompliance and recover money received without entitlement.

Eligibility

  • You must own the parcel in the municipality of Venlo. The existing hard surface must legally drain to the municipal combined sewer or the foul-water sewer of a separate system. Gravel and other partly paved surfaces do not qualify. Measure the disconnected surface from above; it must be at least 10 m².
  • The same surface must not have been the subject of an earlier grant request or award. Work already required by law is excluded. Do not start disconnecting before the municipality decides on your grant.
  • Only clean rainwater that may legally drain into the soil qualifies. Use an efficient, environmentally sound system. Water must infiltrate or otherwise be processed on your own land within 48 hours. Provide storage equivalent to at least 20 mm over the disconnected area: 20 litres for each m². A rain barrel alone is insufficient; it must overflow into storage and infiltration facilities rather than the sewer.
  • The system must not cause nuisance to neighbouring land or be unsuitable on environmental or hydrological grounds. Negative advice from the water manager can lead to refusal or withdrawal.
  • Declare other subsidy or investment-deduction applications for the same project. A subsidy or investment deduction already granted for the same project under this municipal scheme or by another public or semi-public body bars this grant if its amount equals or exceeds the maximum contribution calculated under these rules.
  • The municipality can refuse, change or withdraw support if the work will not take place, award obligations will not be met, information is incorrect or incomplete, or an incorrect award was known or should have been known. Bankruptcy, suspension of payments, personal debt restructuring or a court application for these can also lead to refusal or withdrawal.

Build the system as approved and comply with the award's conditions. Keep it working permanently through maintenance and never reconnect the surface to the sewer. You are responsible for damage, including to others, caused by incorrect installation or inadequate maintenance. Tell new occupants about the system, its maintenance and their responsibility. Allow municipal inspection by appointment; after reporting completion, give municipal inspectors access to the relevant land.

Condições do período de candidaturas
  • Start with the free adviser visit; apply and obtain the grant decision before starting work.[^c11][^c5]
  • Eligible applications are handled in receipt order until the annual ceiling is reached.[^c12]

Request the free site visit through the municipality's advice route, using DigiD as an individual or eHerkenning as an organisation. A municipal sustainability adviser contacts you within three weeks to arrange a visit and assess the possibilities. After the visit, the municipality emails the report and the link for the grant application. Apply before starting work and wait for the decision.

A complete application is normally decided within six weeks. The municipality may extend this once by up to four weeks; it holds the decision if another public grant application for the same disconnection is still pending. Eligible applications are handled in receipt order until the annual budget ceiling is reached.

Complete the work within six months of the award. Within four weeks of completion, notify the municipality and send photographs of the work and final result.
