Green business loan
Loans for businesses investing in renewable energy, energy-efficient buildings and equipment, cleaner transport or other projects that reduce their environmental impact.
Esta oportunidade está atualmente disponível em inglês.
You can borrow up to the value of your investment and repay the borrowed money, with interest, over one to ten years. NLB sets the interest rate according to your business’s credit rating, the loan term, the security offered and your relationship with the bank. It does not charge a loan administration fee.
The direct loan can finance energy-efficient building purchases, construction or renovation; equipment and production-line upgrades that save energy; combined heat and power equipment; electricity storage; solar, hydropower below 20 MW, and biogas or biomass generation. It also covers electric and hybrid vehicles and charging infrastructure, circular-economy projects such as recycled-material production and waste treatment, and agriculture that reduces greenhouse-gas emissions, including afforestation and low-emission machinery.
You must use the borrowed money for the purpose stated in your application. The application asks the deadline for receiving the loan money and when you will repay it. The loan agreement sets your rights and obligations.
Other charges can apply. The linked tariff provides for processing charges, an annual review charge for long-term loans and a fee for each payment made from the loan for the agreed investment. A monthly monitoring fee also applies if the loan is approved on a project-financing basis, where NLB monitors the project. Applying includes a commitment to pay the processing charge even if the bank rejects the application or no agreement is signed. Early repayment is subject to a tariff fee: 0.30–1.50% of the amount repaid early for variable-rate loans, or 0.25–4.00% for fixed-rate loans, depending on the years left until maturity. The tariff is informational; check the current charges when agreeing your loan.
Eligibility
- Your business needs an environmentally friendly investment and evidence to show its purpose. NLB assesses your ability to repay using credit-register information.
- Provide information about your business or activity, legal status and operations, plus environmental investment evidence such as permits, an invoice or contract with equipment specifications, or project documents showing expected energy savings.
- Solar, hydropower and biogas or biomass projects also need consent to connect to the electricity grid, issued in the borrower’s name. Transport projects need a vehicle or infrastructure invoice or purchase contract and project documents for developing the infrastructure, such as a concept design and building permit.
- You must declare that your business activity is outside NLB’s list of excluded activities, and that you have the required environmental and social permits, consents and approvals and comply with the relevant laws. The list includes restrictions on coal and upstream oil, prohibited or controlled substances, forced eviction and certain harmful animal and fishing activities; consult the list for its full scope and exceptions.
- Security depends on the term and other loan conditions. NLB generally does not require additional security for short-term business-account loans. In other cases, options include signed blank bills of exchange with an accompanying declaration, pledged cash, property or movable assets, securities, guarantees from a business or individual, or pledged receivables—money owed to your business.
