Ceiling insulation rebate
A bill-credit rebate for OUC residential and business customers who improve ceiling insulation in existing homes or buildings.
Esta oportunidade está atualmente disponível em inglês.
Upgrade the insulation between your ceiling and roof to reduce electricity use. OUC credits $0.10 per square foot of insulation installed to your utility bill after approval, up to the cost of the work performed.
Eligibility
- You must be a qualifying OUC customer, and the property must be in OUC’s electric service territory. Residential properties must be classified by the property appraiser as single-family homes, condos or townhomes.
- This route is for property owners who hold the OUC account and pay for the work. OUC requires proof of purchase and cannot process claims for work performed and paid for by a third party.
- Your existing insulation must have an R-value of 19 or less, and the final insulation must reach R-30 or higher. R-value is the insulation rating used to check these thresholds. Measure and record your current rating before choosing the additional insulation. Unconditioned spaces such as garages are excluded.
- Work must comply with local and state laws and the manufacturer’s installation specifications. OUC may inspect the completed work before issuing the rebate.
- Qualifying warranty replacements may be considered if you incur out-of-pocket installation costs, such as materials or labour, and meet all eligibility and timing requirements.

- Apply within six months of the purchase date.[^c10][^c14]
Before buying, measure and record the existing R-value and choose the insulation needed to reach at least R-30.
After installation, log in to your myOUC account. Open “Rebates & Ways to Save”, then “Rebates & Incentives”. Find the ceiling insulation rebate, select “Read More”, read its requirements and click “Begin Application”. Only rebates for which you are potentially eligible appear. Complete the form, attach the supporting documents and submit; OUC sends an email confirmation.
Submit dated receipts or invoices within six months of purchase. The invoice or receipt must show the existing and final R-values, installed square footage and insulation type. For DIY work, also provide the purchase receipt showing the insulation type and quantity and its coverage chart.
Provide a legible invoice and proof of purchase. An entirely handwritten invoice needs separate proof of payment, such as a cheque copy or credit-card statement. Financial statements must show the account-holder name, and contractor invoices must include the appropriate licence number where applicable.
OUC states that processing takes four to six weeks, with approved rebates credited to your bill. If OUC requests missing information, provide it within 15 days of notification or the claim will be rejected.
