Sustainability mortgage

You can finance improvements to facades, windows, roofs and insulation, efficient heating or ventilation, and electricity generation for your own use, such as solar panels.

Schaffhauser Kantonalbank lends the money through a fixed mortgage. Interest is 0% for the first year; the agreed conditions apply afterwards. This entry covers financing of CHF 100,000 or more over five to ten years. The sustainability offer requires at least CHF 30,000 in financing and a term of at least five years; the company's general fixed-mortgage terms start at CHF 100,000 and run from two to ten years.

You pay mortgage interest, and the contract can also require regular repayments that reduce the amount borrowed. These together determine your monthly or annual payments. At the end of the fixed term, the mortgage becomes a variable-rate mortgage unless you have agreed otherwise. The bank contacts you about follow-on financing.

Opening or extending a mortgage is free. Increasing it by up to CHF 50,000 costs CHF 300; a larger increase is free. Moving the mortgage to another institution, reinvestment or refinancing adjustments costs CHF 500. A payment undertaking without financing costs CHF 500. Withdrawing pension money for renovation, changes after the contract is drawn up, or additional work on a property transaction costs CHF 300 each. Exceptionally time-consuming additional work can cost more. For additional services without a loan, VAT applies to customers domiciled in Switzerland or Liechtenstein.
