KlimaStadt grant: heat-pump noise studies

City of WürzburgGermania250–4 K EUR

A grant for individuals and organisations arranging a joint noise study for air-source heat pumps serving at least two existing buildings in Würzburg.

Această oportunitate este disponibilă momentan în limba engleză.

The KlimaStadt Würzburg programme helps neighbours plan where to place air-source heat pumps so that their combined noise meets legal limits. This route funds a specialist acoustic study covering at least two existing buildings, rather than the heat pumps themselves.

The grant covers 80% of eligible expenditure, up to €4,000 per study. Separate studies for buildings on immediately adjoining plots count as one study. Grants below €250 are excluded; eligible costs are generally calculated without VAT. Your own work and delivery costs are excluded, and you must have the full project financing in place.

Other grants may be combined if their rules allow it. Total federal, state and municipal support must stay within 90% of eligible costs, or a lower limit imposed by another funder. The city grant is reduced first; report any excess and reduce or repay it. You cannot claim the tax reduction under §35a EStG for the same subsidised expenditure.

Eligibility

  • Individuals and organisations can apply. The work must be inside Würzburg; the city decides any geographic exception individually. Obtain the owner's consent, any required owners' association resolution, and evidence of authority if applying for someone else.
  • The study must cover air-source heat pumps for at least two existing buildings and be carried out by a specialist firm. Funding is granted once per plot. The measure must be voluntary: work required by law, planning conditions or binding agreements is excluded.
  • The study must model local conditions, agree suitable operating parameters with you, identify the heat-pump positions, calculate the combined noise levels and compare them with the legal limits. If limits are exceeded, it must analyse the conflict and propose improved placement or other improvements. The specialist must present and explain the results to you.
  • Studies, design and specialist planning for a shared central heating solution funded through BEG EM (the federal grant scheme for individual building-efficiency measures) are excluded. Work serving only one building is also excluded.
  • Obtain required permissions separately; a grant approval does not replace them. The work must comply with applicable laws and technical standards.

How to apply

Statut
Deschis continuu
Condițiile sesiunii de finanțare
  • For communal heat-pump noise studies in Würzburg; grants depend on available municipal funds.
  • Online applications have been available since 25 April 2026.

Apply to the City of Würzburg through its online form and select “Gemeinschaftliches Standortgutachten”. Submit a project description, a cost offer or detailed estimate, photographs of the initial situation and, where relevant, an owners' meeting resolution or power of attorney.

Wait for the grant decision before signing a service or supply contract or starting work. Pure planning services do not count as a start under the general rules. In justified exceptional cases, after applying you may request written permission for an early start by emailing klimafoerderung@stadt.wuerzburg.de; start only after that permission arrives, and it does not guarantee a grant.

Payment follows completion, submission and checking of the final invoice, completed study and required photographic evidence, and the city's acceptance. The city may inspect the work. Funding is subject to the available municipal budget and is not an entitlement.

Request payment within 12 months under the grant decision. Before the period expires, you may request one extension of up to six months in writing for justified reasons; the city decides whether to allow it. Inform the city immediately about changes and obtain its consent before carrying them out. The final grant is based on actual billed costs and cannot be increased afterwards.

Failure to follow the grant conditions can lead to withdrawal of the decision, immediate repayment and interest. The city may publish the photographs and texts you submit under the programme's publication permission.
