Irrigation pond investment grant

Swedish Board of AgricultureSuediapână la 1,6 mil. SEK

Grants covering 40% of eligible costs for businesses building irrigation ponds that store winter water for farming during dry periods.

Această oportunitate este disponibilă momentan în limba engleză.

Build a pond that stores water during the winter half of the year for irrigation during the growing season, when water is scarce. The support helps agriculture adapt to climate change and reduces pressure on groundwater and rivers during low flows. It can cover the pond, fixed inlet and overflow structures, water-level controls, purchased materials and contracted design or construction services.

The grant covers 40% of eligible expenses, up to SEK 1.6 million per pond. Eligible expenses must total at least SEK 200,000. After approval, an advance can cover up to 50% of the grant, capped at SEK 250,000 and at the Swedish-funded share shown in the decision. State authorities, regions and municipalities cannot receive advances. Other payments reimburse paid expenses.

Eligibility

Your business must farm or invest in a pond used by an agricultural business. You must own the project land or have the owner’s permission.

  • Only expenses invoiced and paid on or after the application reaches the authority qualify. Your own materials and labour, employee wages, authority or court fees, and irrigation-withdrawal pipes or equipment that are not integral parts of the pond are excluded.
  • Water extraction to fill the pond must be notified to the supervisory authority or approved by a court before the grant decision. Construction may also need notification or permission. For construction in an area covered by water at the highest foreseeable water level, this is required unless it is obvious that neither public nor private interests are harmed. Attach the relevant water-activity notification or permit to your application.
  • Fit a permanent water meter that records total irrigation withdrawals. Keep the investment in its intended use for at least five years after final payment, including after a change of owner.
  • Keep project transactions separate in your accounts and meet the decision’s EU funding publicity requirements. If an information sign is required, install and pay for it; failure leads to a 2% payment reduction.
  • Used equipment needs certification that its previous owner received no purchase subsidy, it meets the technical requirements, and its price is no higher than market value and lower than new equipment.

In Skåne, an investment you were already legally required to have completed cannot receive support.

How to apply

Datele nu au fost anunțate

Apply through Jordbruksverket’s project, investment and business-support e-service. Your county administrative board handles the application. Use the county links on the official programme page to check its intake method, minimum selection score and regional priorities. Skåne accepts applications throughout the year and requires at least 300 points; other counties set their own arrangements.

Describe the planned work, costs and outcomes. Attach the required pond selection template and a map showing the water-extraction location. The template calculates investment cost per cubic metre stored; if the e-service asks for the obsolete payback-time criterion, enter 0 as instructed. A power of attorney may be needed when applying for a business or on someone else’s behalf.

Starting before a decision is at your risk. If you start the investment and are then rejected, you cannot apply again for support for those expenses. If you have not started, you can apply again later, but only expenses after the new application can qualify. A rejected application is not automatically moved to another round. Seek an amended decision for material changes to the work, budget or completion date.

After approval, request advance, interim or final payment in the same e-service. For reimbursement, provide invoices addressed to and paid by the applicant, payment evidence and the required financing details. Cash payments over SEK 1,000 are not accepted. Report procurement where you are required to procure competitively. Complete the work and submit the final report and payment request by the decision’s deadline: late final requests lose 1% per day, and requests more than 25 days late receive no final payment.
