Energy efficiency rebates
Rebates help Socorro Electric Cooperative members buy efficient heating, cooling, water-heating and household equipment for homes and small commercial premises.
Această oportunitate este disponibilă momentan în limba engleză.
The 2026 programme covers these residential and small-commercial building improvements.
- Air-source heat pumps: the lower of 50% of equipment cost or $500 for systems up to and including 1.5 tons (18,000 BTUs), or $1,500 above that size. Ducted systems can receive a $500 bonus when their propane backup can heat at least 50% of the home or building floor space down to 17°F. Air-to-water radiant systems receive $500 per ton, subject to the row's 50% equipment-cost limit.
- Ground-source heat pumps: $500 per ton for new installations or $250 per ton for replacement units. A ground-source heat pump's hot-water desuperheater receives $100 per unit. Rebates above $20,000 require approval.
- Water heaters: $350 per air-source heat-pump unit. Electric resistance units receive $50 when replacing propane or natural gas, $50 for demand-response-capable or member-managed units, or $30 for new construction.
- Electric thermal storage heaters receive $16 per kW; thermal slab units receive $12 per kW. Installation alongside a new or existing heat pump adds $100.
- Smart thermostats receive $25 each; permanently installed evaporative coolers receive $200 each; whole-house fans receive $100 each.
- ENERGY STAR certified clothes dryers receive $30 for electric resistance models or $90 for ventless heat-pump models. Induction cooktops receive $100 for electric-to-induction replacement, or $350 for gas-to-induction replacement or new construction.
- Full-size refrigerator or freezer recycling receives $60 per unit, up to $120 per member account each year.
Eligibility
You must be a Socorro Electric Cooperative member. This entry covers the programme's residential and small-commercial building equipment.
- Before purchasing equipment or seeking an incentive, contact SEC to verify programme participation: product eligibility and rebates can change.
- Ducted and ductless air-source heat pumps must meet ENERGY STAR version 6.1, at least 7.8 HSPF2 for seasonal heating efficiency and the stated 14.3 SEER2 minimum for seasonal cooling efficiency. The cold-climate ducted and ductless rows also specify version 6.1 and 7.8 HSPF2. Air-source and ground-source heat pumps require AHRI certification or its number to identify the certified system. Ground-source systems also require manufacturer and model identification. SEC requires a Construction Industries Division (CID) permit for both heat-pump types.
- Water heaters must hold at least 30 gallons and require a CID permit. Heat-pump water heaters must be ENERGY STAR certified. Electric resistance units must replace propane or natural gas, be demand-response-capable or part of a member-managed water-heater programme, or serve new construction.
- Thermal storage and slab units must use timers or a master control system; electric thermal storage needs at least a 1 kW qualifying load.
- Standard or low-voltage smart thermostats must be ENERGY STAR certified, with a limit of two per member account. Line-voltage smart thermostats need no ENERGY STAR certification and have a limit of five. Install the thermostat at the member account.
- Evaporative coolers must be permanently installed and deliver at least 2,500 cubic feet of airflow per minute. Window and portable units are excluded. Provide the make and model; new and replacement installations qualify, up to two per member account.
- Whole-house fans qualify for new or replacement installations, up to two per member account. Attic ventilation and inline duct fans are excluded.
- Clothes dryers must have an ENERGY STAR certified make and model. Induction cooktops must be at least 30 inches wide; replacing a gas cooktop or range requires verification, for which a photo of the old unit is sufficient.
- Recycling is limited to two full-size refrigerators or freezers per consumer per year. Each must be at least 7.75 cubic feet. Proof of recycling is preferred but not required.
