Slim omgaan met regenwater
Grants for Hoeksche Waard residents to add a water-retaining green roof or rainwater storage at home.

A sedum, grass or herb roof receives €15 per m². It must cover at least 5 m² and retain at least 25 litres of water per m². Rainwater storage receives €50 per 100 litres, with at least 200 litres of total storage; examples include a rain barrel, water-storage fence or retention pond.
Your application must request at least €75. The total grant is limited to €2,500 per address per calendar year and cannot exceed your evidenced expenditure. The grant covers eligible purchased materials. Installation, labour, transport, delivery, soil improvement, tools and removal costs are excluded. For a green roof, replacing the underlying roof covering or making structural alterations is also excluded; a traditional pond is excluded from rainwater storage support.

Eligibility
You must live in Hoeksche Waard and carry out the measures at your own residential address. You may apply once per calendar year for that address, even if it includes several plots. An application in a later year must concern new, additional measures. Tenants need the building or land owner’s permission.
The measures must have been completed from 14 February 2026 onwards. Apply in the same calendar year as the work. Keep the measures in place for at least four years; failure to meet the conditions can lead to refusal, withdrawal or recovery of the grant.
The measures must help your surroundings cope with heat, flooding or drought and must not cause damage or problems on neighbouring plots or in public space. Cooperate with any municipal spot check and agree that the municipality may contact you to ask about participating in communications about the subsidy.

Complete the work first, then apply to Gemeente Hoeksche Waard through its DigiD form in the same calendar year. DigiD verifies your identity. Include a description of the measures, before-and-after photographs and invoices or receipts. A paper application form is available by post; call 14 0186 if you need help with the digital form.
Applications are handled in order of receipt while the annual household budget remains available. The municipality reported 11% of the household budget remaining on 16 September 2026. It decides within eight weeks of receiving a complete application and pays in one instalment within eight weeks after an award decision, unless another arrangement is agreed.
