Agricultural biogas cooperation grant
Grants for organisations and companies cooperating on agricultural biogas plant performance, nutrient use and reduced ammonia losses in Sweden.
Această oportunitate este disponibilă momentan în limba engleză.
This national call funded cooperation and knowledge exchange between biogas plants, primarily those linked to agricultural businesses. One project route combined cooperation with evaluation of production, economics and environmental performance at participating plants; it should include a large share of Sweden’s agricultural biogas plants. The other route focused on better nutrient use or reduced ammonia losses linked to biogas plants. Technology tests at selected plants, such as measurements or sampling, were also eligible.
The 2023 call had SEK 10 million for at most two projects. Project costs should be SEK 3–7 million; a project combining all three objectives could have total costs of SEK 10 million. These are project-budget guidelines. Approved salary and other project costs receive 100% support. Indirect costs, such as necessary premises and administration, are calculated at 15% of total salary costs.
Applications closed in 2023. Existing beneficiaries can still claim payments. The project must be completed and the final payment application submitted by 15 January 2028.
Eligibility
- Authorities, municipalities, regions, associations, other organisations and companies could apply. Private individuals could not.
- Investments, marketing and research are excluded, as are activities that public authorities, the state, regions or municipalities must undertake by law. Invoice and payment dates must be no earlier than submission of the support application.
- You must be creditworthy and able to finance the project until payments arrive. You bear overall responsibility for delivery and finances. Costs normally need to be incurred and paid before reimbursement.
- Salaries must actually have been paid for project work, including where you own a limited company. An owner working through a sole proprietorship, trading partnership or limited partnership can instead receive SEK 340 per hour, recorded as other expenditure.
- Check whether you and your partners must follow public procurement rules. State agencies, municipalities, regions and county administrative boards always must; other legal entities can also be covered. Keep relevant procurement documents.

New applications to this call are closed. If you have an award, read your decision and its “Övriga upplysningar” annex, then claim payment through Jordbruksverket’s project, investment and business support e-service. Representation of a company or organisation generally requires a power of attorney.
The 2023 application used BankID and the selections “Samarbete”, then “Samarbete” → “Miljö och klimat” → “Produktion av förnybar energi”. Applicants had to select “Hela landet” even for a regional project so the application reached Jordbruksverket. They had to attach a described budget, evidence of reasonable salaries and comparable prices or quotations for other costs; contingency items were not allowed. Assessment considered the mix of actors, identified needs, dissemination to the target group and clear goals. Starting before an award did not guarantee funding and still required compliance with the rules.
For interim payments, report completed activities and connect costs to them. For final payment, complete the project, pay all costs and submit a final report showing results and achieved goals by the deadline in your decision, within the call’s 15 January 2028 limit. A late final claim reduces payment by 1% for each late day; more than 25 days late means no payment.
Keep project income and expenditure separate in your accounts, retain invoices and proof of payment, and ensure invoices are addressed to and paid by the beneficiary. Cash or Swish payments over SEK 1,000 are not accepted. Partners must invoice their costs onward to the beneficiary at the same amount and supply invoice copies, payment evidence and supporting documents. Partner labour requires a signed project diary and payslip.
After an award, an advance can cover up to 50% of support, capped at SEK 250,000 and the Swedish-funded portion in the decision. State agencies, regions and municipalities cannot claim advances. Advance expenditure is reported with the final claim.
If you cannot use the e-service, you can request an exemption for lack of a Swedish personal identity number and valid e-identification, protected identity preventing valid e-identification, technical problems beyond your control at application time, or substantial obstacles to using the service. Contact projektochinvesteringsstod@jordbruksverket.se about the exemption.
