Energy efficiency and conservation rebate
Residential CMEC members can receive up to $250 towards home insulation that conserves electricity or improves electrical energy efficiency.

This entry covers the home-insulation route of the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Rebate. The rebate pays no more than 25% of the actual purchase and installation costs, or the cost of completing the project, with a residential ceiling of $250. Approved support goes to the member-owner account holder as a check or a Visa gift card sent by mail or email.
Eligibility
- You must be a residential CMEC member-owner account holder. The insulation project must be for permanent use in the cooperative’s service area, and purchases must be made in calendar year 2026.
- Work in a mobile home qualifies only if it is your permanent residence and you own or are purchasing it.
- Provide legible evidence showing how the project conserves electrical energy or improves electrical energy efficiency. CMEC personnel make the final decision on qualification.
- Sales tax, delivery or disposal fees, extended warranties and pedestals do not qualify for reimbursement.
- You may apply for only one Energy Efficiency & Conservation rebate per calendar year. You cannot combine it with another CMEC rebate.
- Equipment funded through the rebate must not be resold or transferred to another owner. CMEC may delay the rebate for up to 180 days from application to determine eligibility.

Complete and sign the 2026 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Rebate form. Attach itemized invoices or sales receipts, including a paid invoice or receipt proving purchase, and legible evidence of the electrical energy savings or efficiency improvement.
Email the completed application to info@cmec.coop, drop it off at 104 Dewitt Ave East in Mattoon, or mail it to CMEC, PO Box 709, Mattoon, IL 61938. Rebates are allocated on a first-come, first-qualified basis. The programme ends on 31 December 2026, or earlier if its allocated funds run out.
