Charge Ready NY 2.0
Rebates for organisations installing electric-vehicle charging at New York workplaces, multifamily properties and hotels.

Charge Ready NY 2.0 helps pay for new Level 2 charging stations, suited to places where vehicles park for several hours. NYSERDA pays after installation and approval of the required documents. If an installer receives the rebate, the full amount must reach the equipment owner as an itemised invoice reduction.
The rebate is USD 3,000 per charging connection, or USD 4,000 at sites NYSERDA identifies as a Disadvantaged Community. These are designated communities on New York's climate-justice map. A connection reserved for an individual driver or an active fleet receives USD 1,000, including in a designated community; it does not receive the extra USD 1,000. The full rate requires access for everyone entitled to use the workplace or housing site's charging.
Equipment owners may apply for no more than USD 300,000 in programme incentives per calendar year. NYSERDA may also apply annual limits to affiliated applicants.
An optional bonus pays USD 4,000 for installations of 4–9 connections or USD 10,000 for 10 or more. Within 18 months of rebate approval, distribute four quarterly updates and complete two activities: one ride-and-drive event, where participants learn about and test-drive electric vehicles, or at least two dealer presentations; qualifying new-EV purchases or leases; or a full year of free employee/tenant charging. For the event/presentation option, at least 5 of the equipment owner’s employees or tenants must attend for a small installation, or 10 for a large one. The vehicle option is for tenants or the workplace fleet. It requires buying at least 1 vehicle for a small installation or 2 for a large one, or leasing those numbers for at least 36 months. Vehicles must be registered and kept in New York for three years; employee-benefit company cars do not qualify. Free charging runs from agreement to participate or installation, whichever is later. Payment follows approval of the completed activities.
Eligibility
- Every equipment owner must have an Employer Identification Number (EIN). Separately, it must be licensed to do business in New York or be a New York state agency or local public body. The installer must be registered in New York and hold the credentials needed for the work.
- Install at a New York site with at least 20 parking spaces and at least 4 charging connections. Funding covers no more than 25% of assigned spaces and 25% of unassigned spaces, with an overall maximum of 40 connections per site. Existing connections reduce the maximum available. Fleet charging is limited to 2 connections per location for an active fleet using weight-class 2 or lighter vehicles. Class is based on the manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR): the maximum weight including fluids, passengers and cargo. Compare that rating with the US Department of Energy vehicle-class table; class 2 or lower means no more than 10,000 pounds GVWR. The separate four-connection site minimum still applies.
- Workplaces must have at least 20 employees and give employees priority over visitors. Dealership chargers must be in designated employee parking. Workplace signs must reserve charging for employees during business hours.
- Multifamily sites need at least 10 dwellings on site and at least 5 in each building. More than half of regularly parked vehicles must be primarily driven by residents. Only the site owner may apply as the equipment owner. Multifamily sites must display signs prioritising charging for tenants. Hotels and motels count as multifamily sites and are exempt from that tenant-priority signage requirement. Detached homes, duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, individual townhouses, trailer parks and individual mobile homes do not qualify.
- Public-parking facilities, restaurants, bars and sites operating less than nine months a year are excluded.
- Use approved new charging equipment and an approved network. Each connection must support at least 6.2 kW while all are charging; managed charging may reduce that level only with the charging customer's consent. Buy at least one year of network service initially and maintain service and NYSERDA data access for five years.
- Keep the equipment operating at the same location for five years. Early removal or loss of service can require proportionate repayment. Sale can preserve eligibility if the buyer commits to the remaining operation and reporting obligations. Begin repairs within 24 hours of notice of a fault.
- Provide durable charging-only signs, vehicle-impact protection, lighting and a visible toll-free 24-hour support number. All funded workplace and multifamily equipment owners must share programme newsletters quarterly with employees or tenants; the optional bonus requires proof of four quarterly deliveries.
- The same charging equipment cannot have received, or be due to receive, funding from NYSDEC’s Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) and ZEV Infrastructure Rebate Program, NYPA ReCharge NY Workplace programme, federal charging-station grants, or another NYSERDA charging initiative. Equipment paid for entirely by third parties is excluded. New York's charging-station tax credit can be combined with the rebate, calculated after deducting NYSERDA funding.

Apply through the NYSERDA portal linked from the application notice. The equipment owner can apply or authorise the installer; the owner must complete the participation agreement in either case.
Choose one route:
- Before installation: submit the agreements, permit or official confirmation no permit is required, itemised installation quote and site map. The quote must include a minimum three-year warranty and networking costs. The site-host agreement is required even when the equipment owner owns the site. Approval reserves funds conditionally: finish installation and submit final documents within 180 calendar days. Two expired 180-day periods make that site ineligible for another application.
- After installation: apply and submit final documentation within 90 calendar days of installation. The installation must be after the programme's July 19, 2023 launch.
Use the programme resources for the required final forms, installation photographs and proof of equipment, installation and network-service payments. NYSERDA pays after reviewing and approving the completed installation. Correct notified missing or incomplete information within 15 calendar days to avoid cancellation.
Applications are first come, first served through December 31, 2026, or until funds run out earlier.
