Climate Fund One investment
Investment for European climate companies expanding sales and international markets in clean energy, low-carbon industry, recycling and natural resources.
Beskrivningen av den här finansieringen finns för närvarande på engelska.
SlateVC Climate Fund One backs companies whose solutions can mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas concentrations. Its growth-stage strategy supports businesses scaling commercial activity and extending their market position internationally. SlateVC describes its focus as Series A through Series C; these are fundraising stages, while the practical focus is commercial expansion.
The fund invests in company equity: it provides capital in return for an ownership share in the business. SlateVC co-led the equity financing of recycling company Fairmat; the venture debt in that financing was provided separately by the European Investment Bank. SlateVC also brings experience in scaling companies and networks.
Supported areas include renewable energy, grid resilience and energy efficiency; lower-carbon industrial heat, manufacturing and construction processes; recycling and advanced materials; and water, nature restoration and climate-risk information.
Eligibility
Your company must be able to contribute to the fund’s climate-mitigation objective. The published investment strategy targets European companies built for international markets.
The fund applies sector exclusions, including tobacco, gambling, weapons and fossil-fuel extraction, and ethical exclusions, including human-rights violations and forced or child labour.
SlateVC reviews management’s commitment to environmental, social and governance matters (ESG) and the Do No Significant Harm principle, which requires avoiding significant harm alongside the intended climate benefit. An external audit examines environmental, social, governance and stakeholder risks, as well as ESG controversies and adverse impacts—the negative effects of investment on environmental and social matters. The investment requires approval from the fund’s ESG & Impact Committee.
Investment documentation includes regular ESG and impact reporting, an ESG action plan, a diversity and inclusion policy, greenhouse-gas measurement and a decarbonisation plan. The preliminary impact plan includes at least three indicators for measuring progress, and portfolio monitoring collects annual data on ESG performance and adverse impacts.
