Solar property-tax relief
Granada IBI taxpayers can reduce the property tax on an existing dwelling by 50% for one year after voluntarily installing solar energy for their own use.
Beskrivningen av den här finansieringen finns för närvarande på engelska.
The relief reduces IBI (Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles), the municipal tax on property, for solar systems producing heat or electricity for self-consumption. The 50% applies to the property-tax charge, rather than the installation cost.
It applies only in the year following installation. The purchase invoice date determines the year in which the reduction takes effect.
Eligibility
- The dwelling must be in Granada and must not be newly built. You must be the person or entity liable for its IBI. Liability follows the applicable right in this order: an administrative concession over the property or its public services, a right to build on another person’s land (surface right), a right to use and enjoy the property (usufruct), then ownership.
- You must have installed the solar system voluntarily for self-consumption. Installations required by current law are excluded.
- Pay the dwelling’s IBI by bank direct debit. Set up the debit by 1 March of the year when the relief takes effect.
- Be up to date with municipal taxes and other amounts owed to Granada under public law. You can satisfy this test by obtaining an approved deferral or instalment plan for debts already in enforcement before the benefit decision, or by paying all debts before the definitive decision. Missing the agreed payments leads to recovery of the tax reduction. Nonpayment of the direct-debit tax bill or its instalments for reasons attributable to you removes the benefit for that year.
- The solar reduction cannot be combined with other IBI reductions in Article 10, except the direct-debit reduction. Mandatory reductions take priority; otherwise the most beneficial reduction applies.

- Submit before 1 March of the effect year, which is the year after installation; the purchase invoice date determines that year. Late claims are rejected.
