Rainwater disconnection grant

Gemeente RhenenNederländernaupp till 500 EUR

Residents of Rhenen can receive up to €500 for materials to disconnect existing roof or yard drainage from the public sewer and retain rainwater on their own land.

Beskrivningen av den här finansieringen finns för närvarande på engelska.

This grant supports an individual household application to disconnect rainwater drainage. Redirecting water into a garden, pond or planted depression helps keep it out of the sewer and retain it locally during heavy rain and dry periods.

Gemeente Rhenen reimburses necessary disconnection materials, including PVC fittings, up to €5 per square metre disconnected and €500 in total. You can receive money only for costs actually incurred, so keep proofs of payment. A rain barrel is not reimbursed. The contribution is awarded once per address.

Eligibility

  • You must live in the municipality of Rhenen and carry out the disconnection at your existing property there. Disconnect at least 20 m² of roof or yard surface that currently drains to the public sewer. An existing roof surface must be older than one year.
  • Process the rainwater entirely on your own land. Your system must temporarily hold water before it overflows: provide at least the household storage capacity specified in the rules as 40 mm/m² and let overflow reach green areas. Investigate whether the soil allows water to soak in; neighbouring properties must not suffer adverse effects.
  • You cannot receive support for a portion that has already received funding for greening, removing hard surfaces or disconnection. An already disconnected portion is excluded, but the rear of a home may qualify if only the front is disconnected.
  • New-build projects and extensions are excluded, as are properties connected to pressure sewerage (a pumped sewer system), homes without a public-sewer connection and disconnections already required by law. The grant does not fund public paving, green walls, semi-open paving such as grass-concrete blocks, or artificial grass. Gravel and similar materials without a green appearance are excluded unless they allow a large bucket of water to soak completely into the ground within 30 minutes.
  • Maintain the disconnection system and tell new residents about it when you move; they become responsible for its upkeep. If you breach the maintenance duty, you have three months to restore the provision. The grant is recovered if you fail to do so within that period. You must allow the municipality access to inspect the funded property.
