Community building sustainability grant
Grants for amateur sports organisations, community and cultural building owners or management foundations, and religious bodies to improve buildings in Tholen.

Fund energy improvements to sports facilities, village halls, cultural buildings and churches, such as solar panels, LED lighting for sports fields, double glazing, insulation, high-efficiency boilers and heat pumps.
The grant covers 75% of costs, up to €12,500 including VAT per building. Up to €3,000 of the contribution can be used for an energy scan; this reduces the contribution available for improvements. You may combine this grant with other national subsidies.
Eligibility
- Your organisation's statutes must state that it is based in Tholen, and the building must be in the municipality.
- For a sports facility, the applicant must be an amateur sports organisation that owns and/or manages it and is responsible for major maintenance.
- For a cultural building or village hall, the applicant must be its owner or management foundation and responsible for major maintenance.
- For a church, the applicant must be a religious body that owns or manages it and is responsible for major maintenance.
- The municipality must not own the building and/or must not be responsible for its major maintenance.
- Submit the energy scan within four months after applying. Start the funded work only after the municipality has received your application, and within six months after the grant is awarded. For unforeseen circumstances outside your direct control, the municipal executive may grant one extension on request.

- Applications are accepted while municipal budget remains.
Arrange an energy scan: an expert's report recommending improvements to the building's energy use. Choose improvements from its recommendations and obtain contractors’ quotes. If you need help finding someone to carry out the scan, contact the municipality. The scan can be submitted within four months after applying.
Apply online to Gemeente Tholen using the application button, with eHerkenning level 2+, the quotes and an implementation schedule. Applications are accepted while budget remains.
The municipality decides within eight weeks of a complete application. If awarded, you receive a provisional decision. Once the planned improvements are agreed, 75% of the municipal contribution is paid; the balance follows after your account of the work has been accepted. An unsuccessful application receives no contribution.
