SuRIA Home solar rebate
A one-time cash rebate of up to RM3,000 for Malaysian household customers installing rooftop solar through Solar ATAP in Peninsular Malaysia.
Beskrivningen av den här finansieringen finns för närvarande på engelska.
SuRIA Home pays RM600 for each kilowatt of alternating-current installed capacity (kWac) recorded on your Solar ATAP certificate, up to RM3,000. For example, a 2.5 kWac system receives RM1,500 and a 5 kWac system reaches the maximum. The rebate is paid after your system is installed and commissioned with TNB.
The rebate is first come, first served. Your system must be successfully commissioned with TNB by 31 December 2026, and the programme ends sooner if its RM150 million allocation is fully used.
Eligibility
- You must be a Malaysian citizen and an individual TNB customer on the Domestic Tariff; companies are excluded. Your Solar ATAP installation must be commissioned with TNB by 31 December 2026. Domestic premises must be private dwellings, not hotels, boarding houses or premises used for business, trade or professional services.
- You must not have received a SolaRIS cash rebate. Each customer gets one SuRIA Home rebate, for their first house commissioned under Solar ATAP. A system already rebated to a previous owner cannot qualify again, and adding capacity after receiving your first rebate does not earn another rebate.
- Solar ATAP requires an existing electricity consumer. Multi-tenant consumers—premises where different customers are supplied through a landlord’s individual electricity supply—and consumers that are also generators, such as co-generators or back-feed generators, are excluded.
- You must not have previously participated in another solar PV programme, except through the following routes. Feed-in Tariff participants can join through their normal supply account, rather than their Feed-in Tariff account. Net Energy Metering participants and customers with solar for self-consumption must terminate their current contract before joining Solar ATAP. For customers switching from Net Energy Metering, the Solar ATAP contract lasts only for the remaining term of their previous contract.
- Install panels on buildings within the same premises; solar carparks and covered pedestrian walkways with integrated panels can qualify within the same compound. Provide building drawings with the application. The standard domestic capacity limits are 5 kW for single-phase and 15 kW for three-phase supply. For systems up to 72 kW that exceed those limits, a Connection Confirmation Check must be approved before the Solar ATAP application. TNB checks the declared capacity, electrical ratings and whether its network can safely accept the additional generation; the published check fee is RM1,000.
- Systems above 72 kW need a Connection Assessment Study to check whether the installation can connect to the electricity network; the applicant pays for the study.
- Systems above 24 kWac on single-phase supply or 72 kWac on three-phase supply require a public generation licence from Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Malaysia’s energy regulator. Customers exempt from the licensing requirement must submit the exemption notification within 28 days of approval.

- First come, first served until the RM150 million allocation is exhausted.
- Successfully commission the Solar ATAP installation with TNB by 31 December 2026.
Appoint a Registered Photovoltaic Service Provider (RPVSP) through the official Solar ATAP page. The provider helps with the application from start to finish. The Solar ATAP application goes through eATAP; its non-refundable fee is RM7.50 per kW, payable within seven days, or the application is rejected. Complete the application within three months of submission; otherwise SEDA may reject it.
After Solar ATAP approval, the process includes installation, a TNB Solar ATAP contract, the required electricity meter, and testing and commissioning. Complete commissioning by the rebate deadline; an application submitted before the deadline is not enough.
TNB notifies eligible customers through their TNB-registered email to submit their preferred local bank account details. The account must match the TNB customer’s name and NRIC number. A joint account is allowed if that customer is the principal account holder. After verification, TNB transfers the rebate within seven working days, subject to bank processing time.
