Rogaland Sparebank offers a loan for farmers investing in solar power. The bank lends you money for the investment, which you repay with interest.
The bank’s general business lending guidance allows repayment through equal total instalments (an annuity loan) or equal repayments of the amount borrowed (a serial loan), where payments are highest at the beginning. Interest is the cost of borrowing; principal repayments reduce the loan balance. The repayment period depends on the investment and should not exceed its useful economic life.
The general business tariff lists a loan payment fee of NOK 90 for monthly payments or NOK 270 for quarterly payments, and NOK 7,500 if annual accounts are not submitted to the Register of Company Accounts. If you repay a fixed-rate loan early, in part or in full, the listed fee is 0.1% of the amount repaid, with a minimum of NOK 5,000. Agree your agricultural loan’s interest, fees and repayment terms with the bank as part of its assessment.

The bank reviews both your financial history and the business’s financial history when assessing lending risk. Security for a business loan can be tied to the financed asset or to real estate.
