Refrigerator and freezer recycling rebates
MSMEC members can receive $120 when replacing a full-size home refrigerator or freezer with an ENERGY STAR appliance and recycling the old unit.

For an eligible refrigerator or freezer replacement with recycling, Tri-State contributes $60 and Mora-San Miguel Electric Cooperative (MSMEC) contributes $60, giving a $120 rebate. The form asks who the rebate check should be payable to.
Eligibility
- You must have an MSMEC member account and provide a copy of your electricity bill. The purchase must replace or update an existing appliance in your home in the cooperative’s New Mexico service area.
- The refrigerator or freezer must be full-size: at least 7.75 cubic feet. This route requires recycling the old appliance; the form asks whether you are replacing a working unit and how it was disposed of.
- Provide your purchase receipt and the ENERGY STAR Energy Guide showing the ENERGY STAR symbol, brand and model. An application without the symbol on the guide does not qualify.
- Submit your claim within 90 days of the product purchase.

Use the appliance rebate application identified as updated on 22 September 2025 on the official forms page. Fill in your account, appliance, installation and recycling details, and sign the form.
Send the form, MSMEC bill, receipt and ENERGY STAR Energy Guide to Tami Hernandez at thernandez@morasanmiguel.coop. You can also post the packet to MSMEC, Attn: Tami Hernandez, P.O. Box 240, Mora, NM 87732, or fax it to 575-387-5975. Submit within 90 days of purchase.
