Climate protection and adaptation grant
Residents and nonprofit organizations in Siegen can get help buying a qualifying cargo bike, including an electric cargo bike.
Denne finansieringsmulighed er i øjeblikket beskrevet på engelsk.
For a qualifying cargo bike, the programme reimburses up to 25% of the purchase cost, capped at €500. The percentage is calculated on the gross invoiced cost, including VAT. Only costs clearly attributable and necessary to the measure count.
The minimum payment is €50 per application. Across the programme, a household or eligible institution can receive no more than €3,000 a year, and only one of each measure can be funded each year. You cannot split an invoice across two years. Other grants can be combined only if their own rules permit it; Siegen does not check compatibility, and another subsidy or tax benefit could be reduced.
Keep the funded bike in use under the grant conditions for five years from payment. Keep supporting records for five years and allow the city to inspect them. On sale, the obligations pass to the new owner. A breach during the five-year binding period can lead to full or partial recovery of the grant, potentially with interest.
Eligibility
- Eligible applicants are residents with their primary residence in Siegen, tenants and owners of property in Siegen, and nonprofit associations, foundations, church institutions and sports clubs based in Siegen. Commercial companies are excluded. The measure must be implemented within Siegen.
- The cargo bike must have factory-fitted equipment for legally transporting children or goods and be able to carry at least 40 kg in addition to the rider within its permitted total weight. Used electric cargo bikes are also eligible.
- For an electric cargo bike, home charging must use 100% renewable electricity. Prove either an electricity tariff with the Ok Power or Grüner Strom label, or an on-site renewable generation system used to charge the bike. Guarantees of origin alone do not qualify. Submit the tariff invoice showing the label, or the generation-system register extract or installation invoice.
- For the 2026 intake, the purchase must have been completed in 2025 or 2026. Measures required by law and unlawful measures are excluded; invoiced costs must be verifiable and reasonable.
