Residential ducted heat-pump rebate
A rebate for residential electric-account owners installing qualifying ducted air-source heat pumps at a Marblehead Municipal Light Department service address.
Denne finansieringsmulighed er i øjeblikket beskrevet på engelsk.
The rebate pays $500 for each ton of cooling capacity shown on the system’s AHRI certificate, where one ton equals 12,000 BTUs. The limit is three tons per year and $1,500 per service address per calendar year. This entry covers ducted air-source heat pumps.
Eligibility
- You must own the Marblehead Municipal Light Department electric account for the installation service address.
- Purchase and install the heat pump between January 1 and December 31, 2026. A Massachusetts-licensed contractor must install it; self-installation is excluded.
- The system must have SEER2 of at least 15.2, HSPF2 of at least 8.1 and COP of at least 1.75 at 5°F. SEER2 is the seasonal cooling-efficiency rating, HSPF2 is the seasonal heating-performance rating, and COP measures heat-pump efficiency. Ask your contractor for the AHRI certificate documenting the system’s ratings and cooling capacity; ratings cannot be rounded up to qualify.
- Your signed application certifies that you received your contractor’s Manual J report for sizing the system and are satisfied that the heat pump meets your heating and air-conditioning needs.
The separate NextZero heat-pump assessment service is optional and is not required to apply for this rebate.

The form asks about your previous heating fuel, whether the fossil-fuel system was removed or disconnected and whether a retained system will serve only as backup. It also asks whether the heat pump serves every finished room or only part of the home, whether automatic controls switch between the heat pump and fossil-fuel backup, their switch-over temperature if installed, and any weatherization work. Complete these project disclosures alongside the system and contractor details.
Mail the documents to MMWEC, Attn: Rebates, 327 Moody Street, Ludlow, MA 01056. Your application must be postmarked by January 31, 2027. Allow four to six weeks for processing. For application questions, call (413) 308-1311 or email help@nextzero.org.
