Efficient household appliance grant
EWN electricity customers in Nidwalden can receive CHF 50–100 per qualifying energy-efficient appliance replacing an old one.

EWN funds replacement tumble dryers, washer-dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, fridge-freezers, upright and chest freezers, and extractor hoods. Topten administers the grant and pays approved claims into the account named in the application.
The payment depends on the appliance and its energy-label class:
- Tumble dryers: A CHF 100; B CHF 70.
- Washer-dryers: A CHF 100; B CHF 70; C CHF 50.
- Dishwashers: A CHF 70; B CHF 50.
- Refrigerators, fridge-freezers, upright freezers and chest freezers: A CHF 100; B CHF 70; C CHF 50.
- Extractor hoods: A+++ CHF 70; A++ or A+ CHF 50.
Eligibility
- You must be an EWN electricity customer from the canton of Nidwalden. Individuals, companies, property managers and housing cooperatives can qualify. The replacement must be installed at a property in Nidwalden.
- The appliance must replace an old one; first-time purchases, such as equipping a newly purchased home without replacing an appliance, are excluded. Foodcenter refrigerators and fridge-freezers are excluded.
- The purchase must be after 1 January 2026 and before 31 December 2027. If order, delivery and payment dates differ, the order date counts. Check the appliance’s energy label against the eligible classes above.
- Confirm that the old appliance has been professionally disposed of. It may not be used again in Switzerland. Double funding is prohibited.
- You must allow access to funded appliances for spot checks. You transfer the measure’s electricity-saving evidence exclusively to EWN, allowing EWN to count the savings towards electricity-supplier efficiency targets or transfer them to a third party for that purpose. The Swiss Federal Office of Energy (BFE) may check compliance; data may be shared with it or its appointed office solely for that check and treated confidentially.
- There is no legal entitlement to a grant. Rates and conditions can change; the terms at submission apply. Incorrect or incomplete applications are rejected. Grants obtained through false or incomplete information or breaches of the rules may be reclaimed and must then be repaid; applicants may also be excluded from further programmes.
How to apply

- Fresh claims are currently invited. Submit within six months of the order date. Eligible purchases must be after 1 January 2026 and before 31 December 2027; this purchase period is not a universal application deadline.
Submit the electronic grant application to Topten within six months of the order date. Upload an invoice showing the purchase/order date, manufacturer/model/type and delivery address. Complete the application accurately and provide the payment account.
Topten decides whether to award the grant and its amount. Its decision is final, with no appeal route. Approved grants are transferred to the account specified in the application.
