Klimabonus heat network grants
Grants for constructing a heating network serving homes in Luxembourg or connecting a house or apartment building to an existing network.

A heat network carries heat to several buildings. Klimabonus supports building a network serving at least two residential buildings, or connecting a residential building to an existing network. Heat must pass into the building through a heat transfer station.

The connection reduction for an apartment building applies to the building’s grant, rather than to each dwelling. The scheme also provides EUR 2,000 for replacing an oil boiler with a heat-network connection in a legally designated drinking-water protection zone, and EUR 1,500 for removing, neutralising and recycling the oil tank when an oil boiler is replaced.
Eligible costs are recorded excluding VAT. They include the heat transfer station, insulated pipes, circulation pumps, controls, trench work, connection materials and labour, peripheral equipment and installation costs. A heat transfer station can receive aid only once, either as part of the network or the connection.
Eligibility
- The building must be residential and located in Luxembourg. Individuals, private legal entities and public legal entities other than the State can apply. Apply as the dwelling owner or as a legal representative who is also a member of the applicant group. If ownership changes, the former owner who paid for the investment can receive the aid when the new owner gives up their entitlement in the former owner’s favour.
- Support can accompany renovation or new construction, or be requested separately. Ask the municipality where the building is located whether a building permit is required.
- Used systems and replacement or repair of a component that cannot function independently are excluded. An installation already funded under the 2017 or 2022 scheme cannot receive this aid; Klimabonus is paid once per installation.
- A legal entity carrying out economic activity receives the aid under EU de minimis rules, which limit its cumulative small amounts of State aid. It must identify registration of the aid in its own name or provide formal proof and the final recipient’s identity if the aid is transferred.

- Apply within four years after 31 December of the invoice year. Ordinarily, invoices must be dated between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2030.[^c5]
- For installations accompanying energy efficiency renovation, invoices may run to 31 December 2035, with applications no later than 31 December 2039; the four-year rule still applies.[^c5]
- For installations accompanying new sustainable construction eligible under the 2017 scheme, invoices must be issued by 31 December 2029 and applications submitted by 31 December 2031; the four-year rule still applies.[^c5]
Apply after the work is completed through authenticated MyGuichet.lu, using LuxTrust or an electronic identity card, or submit the appropriate DEPA-2026 form by post or in person to the Single point of contact for housing assistance. The Environment Agency processes the subsidy.
Include your bank account document, detailed paid invoices and the RACH-2026 technical sheet. The sheet can be completed and signed by the energy adviser, the person who calculated the building’s energy performance, the architect responsible for the project or the company responsible for the work. Submit a separate application for each connection. For the EUR 2,000 oil-boiler replacement bonus, attach a map from a publicly available website showing the drinking-water protection zone.
For a commonhold or apartment building, include COLL-2026 and an owner’s power of attorney for each owner, or meeting minutes or another official document authorising the work. Provide the list of flats and each flat’s energy reference area (the floor area used for its energy calculations), excluding common areas. Include any other documents specified on the forms; the housing assistance office can request further information.
Aid is generally paid to your bank account. A group representative must immediately distribute each member’s share and send proof of these payments to the housing assistance office. Aid may have to be returned for inaccurate or incomplete statements, or failure to supply requested information.
