The Industrial Leap
Grants for developing technology or planning investments that help industry cut its climate impact.
The Industrial Leap (Industriklivet) can fund feasibility studies, research, demonstration projects and investments. It has three areas: cutting industrial emissions, permanently removing carbon dioxide, and developing new industrial solutions that support the climate transition.
Permanently removing carbon dioxide is also called negative emissions. That part of the programme does not fund biochar or the use of captured carbon dioxide in products.
Eligibility
The 2026 round for research into negative emissions is closed. It was open to companies, universities, research institutes and public-sector organizations.
Applicants normally needed operations in Sweden. An applicant without Swedish operations could receive support only in exceptional cases, with all three conditions met:
- It could demonstrate unique expertise unavailable from organizations in Sweden.
- The project was essential to achieving the Industrial Leap's purpose.
- There could be a clear transfer of knowledge to organizations in Sweden.
The Swedish Energy Agency could still refuse funding even when all three conditions were met. The research results had to help make permanent carbon removal possible in Sweden.
