Tourism sustainability grants

Tourism Industry New Zealand TrustNew Zealandup to 50k NZDclosed

Grants for tourism industry organisations and private enterprises to build sustainability skills or help New Zealand communities adapt to climate change.

The 2026 programme supports the Tourism Sustainability Commitment through workshops, online courses and practical resources for tourism operators. It also supports training in sustainable business practices, financial management, marketing and customer service.

Climate Change Adaptation is a separate funding focus within the same programme: projects should help communities become resilient and prepared for future environmental challenges.

Industry-wide initiatives managed by industry associations or Regional Tourism Organisations can receive up to NZD 50,000 plus GST per project. Private enterprise projects can receive up to NZD 10,000 plus GST per project.

Eligibility

Your project must align with the Trust’s charitable purposes: educating people involved in New Zealand tourism and people in New Zealand about tourism, and/or promoting tourism based on the sustainable use and preservation of New Zealand’s natural assets.

  • Industry-wide initiatives must be managed by an industry association or Regional Tourism Organisation.
  • Private enterprises can apply for their own projects under the smaller grant scale.
  • Partnerships with local government, iwi and the Department of Conservation are encouraged.
