CECB Plus energy audit grant
Grants for owners of pre-2000 buildings in Vaud to assess energy performance and compare renovation options.
CECB Plus is an energy assessment with renovation advice. A certified expert records your building’s current energy performance and compares at least two renovation options, including a complete renovation. The expert must publish the final report in the CECB database and provide at least one hour of advice when handing it over.
The grant is CHF 1,000 for individual housing and CHF 1,500 for other eligible building categories. It cannot exceed the actual cost of the audit. Buildings with multiple EGID building identification numbers, or identical buildings, may receive a limited grant.
Eligibility
You must own a building in the canton of Vaud constructed before 2000. The building must be heated and belong to one of the 12 SIA 380/1 building-use categories. Industrial processes and new construction are excluded. Your building must also be a type that can be assessed using CECB Plus; building types that cannot use CECB Plus are covered by the separate IM-07-2 building-analysis grant.
Updates to an existing CECB Plus are excluded. A draft report does not qualify, and an audit already published when you apply is ineligible. The expert must be certified by CECB.
Buildings owned by the canton or the Confederation, or by foundations financed mainly by either, are excluded. Projects financed 50% or more by the canton or Confederation are excluded, as are companies or production sites subject to CO₂-law reduction commitments, including CO₂-tax exemption, or participating in emissions trading.
Support cannot fund measures required by law, including obligations of large energy consumers, or the same measure funded by another federal programme. Applicants acting as public contracting authorities must follow procurement law. Subsidised entities must respect equality between women and men.
Conversions treated as new construction, such as gutting a building, are excluded. This audit grant cannot be combined with the programme’s whole-building renovation measures M-10 (improving CECB efficiency classes), M-12 (Minergie renovation certification) or M-13 (CECB complete renovation).
How to apply
- Status
- Open continuously
- Round restrictions
- 2026 applications have been accepted since 12 January 2026 and are currently open, subject to the available budget.
- Written approval is required before audit services begin.
Apply to the Directorate of Energy through the Vaud Programme Bâtiments portal, using a separate application for each measure and building. Include the owner-signed application generated by the portal and the certified expert’s quotation, including at least one hour of advice. The signed form and required attachments must reach the processing centre by email before the application is processed; receipt of the signed form determines the filing date.
Wait for written approval before the expert starts any CECB Plus services. After approval, the expert prepares and publishes the final report. Complete the project within two years of the award decision; a justified request can obtain a further two years. Report any change affecting the grant amount by email before the work begins.
Submit the completion notice through the same portal to request payment. Include the owner-signed completion form, detailed final invoice, proof of payment, CECB Plus report, floor-area and thermal-envelope calculations from plans or sketches, and evidence of initial U-values. Provide the applicable bank details. The Directorate checks the file and may check the audit before paying.
