Residential efficiency incentives
Rebates help residential electricity members improve insulation and seal air leaks in existing electrically heated homes.
The residential efficiency programme includes insulation and air-sealing rebates. This page covers those measures.
Air sealing alone pays 30% of sealing costs, up to $300. Combined attic insulation and air sealing pays 30% of insulation costs, up to $500. Wall insulation pays 30% of insulation costs, up to $500. If you install the work yourself, the incentive is based only on material costs. Beltrami Electric pays the rebate by check after you claim it.
Eligibility
You must be a residential Beltrami Electric member. The cooperative serves Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Hubbard, Itasca and Koochiching counties in Minnesota; the work must be at your served home.
- Electric heat must be your primary heating source. The home must be more than two years old. Garages, sheds and workshops do not qualify.
- For air sealing alone, provide blower-test results from before and after the work. These tests measure air leakage from the home.
- Combined attic work must seal all accessible attic air leaks and improve insulation from R-30 or below to R-50. R-value measures how well insulation resists heat flow. Attic knee walls, the short walls alongside attic spaces, must be insulated to at least R-25, up to R-30. Attic insulation without air sealing receives no rebate.
- Wall insulation must improve from R-5 or below to R-11 or above. Attic knee walls are excluded from the wall-insulation rebate.
The application recommends working with a qualified insulation contractor or energy auditor to choose suitable work; self-installation is permitted under the materials-only calculation.
