Gas-to-electric heat-pump rebates

GreyStone Power CorporationGeorgia300–600 USD

Rebates for residential GreyStone members replacing gas heating or gas and propane water heaters with heat pumps.

For space heating, the rebate is $600 for a unit with a 16 SEER ENERGY STAR efficiency rating, or $300 for a unit below that rating. Check the equipment’s stated efficiency rating against this requirement. Both a regular heat pump and a heat pump with gas backup (dual fuel) can qualify.

For a heat-pump water heater, the rebate is $400 when replacing gas water heating, or $500 when replacing propane water heating.

You arrange and pay for the conversion. GreyStone processes approved rebates after its on-site inspection.

Eligibility

  • You must be a residential GreyStone member. The conversion must serve your residence in GreyStone’s service area, which covers portions of Douglas, Paulding, Cobb, Fulton, Coweta, Fayette, Carroll and Bartow counties in Georgia.
  • The equipment must replace gas heating or gas/propane water heating. Leased equipment and lease-to-purchase agreements are excluded.
  • A heat-pump water heater must have a tank of at least 50 gallons. Insulate the hot-water pipe for at least 6 feet from the top of the tank and the cold-water pipe for at least 2 feet. Keep a receipt showing the tank’s warranty period.
  • For a space-heating conversion, your attic insulation must have a rating of at least R-30. You must have double-pane or storm windows, and all ducts in unconditioned areas must be insulated. A licensed HVAC contractor must install the system.
  • Request the rebate within 90 days of installation.

For space heating, also submit the sales contract with complete product information; for water heating, the receipt must show the warranty period.

A Residential Energy Consultant will contact you to schedule an on-site inspection. Have your purchase receipt available at the inspection. GreyStone processes approved rebates after the inspection is complete.
