Residential weatherization rebate
Rebates for replacement windows and insulation for residential Colton Electric Utility customers.

Replace windows or add insulation to your home. Window replacements, sliding glass doors and French doors receive $4 per square foot. Insulation receives $0.40 per square foot for the attic, $0.30 for a radiant barrier and $0.20 for exterior walls. Your rebate cannot exceed the product cost.
For rebates above $500, Colton Electric Utility mails a check within six weeks of receiving a complete application. Rebates below $500 are credited to your utility account within two to three billing cycles.
Eligibility
- You must have an active residential Colton Electric Utility account. The property owner applies. If you rent, ask the owner to complete the application and designate where the rebate goes.
- Windows must be ENERGY STAR approved for the South/Central Climate Zone, with a U-factor below 0.35 and a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) below 0.30. Check the product label and attach proof of these ratings.
- Insulation must meet climate zone 3 criteria and have at least the listed R-value: R-30 for attic insulation, R-19 for a radiant barrier and R-13 for exterior walls. Use the product label and record the R-value on the application.
- Installation must comply with applicable permit requirements. Any contractor you use must hold the appropriate licence.
- Allow the utility reasonable access to verify the installation if requested. Refusing verification means the rebate will not be paid.

Complete and sign the window replacement or insulation application. Include proof of purchase, an itemized list of installed measures and the required product label showing ENERGY STAR approval. Mail the application and supporting documents to City of Colton Electric Utility, Residential Weatherization Rebate Program, 650 N. La Cadena Drive, Colton, CA 92324. The envelope must be postmarked no later than four months after purchase. You can also deliver the documents in person to 150 S. 10th Street, Colton, CA 92324.
Rebates are awarded first come, first served until approved funding is spent.
