Solar energy grant
Grants help Holzgerlingen residents buy their first plug-in solar electricity system or solar thermal system for private use.

Plug-in solar panels, such as balcony systems or solar tables, receive 30% of eligible investment costs, up to €200. Holders of a Familien- und Sozialpass receive 75%, up to €500.
Solar thermal systems receive €150 for domestic hot water, or €300 for heating support or combined hot-water and heating systems. This entry covers specialist-installed solar thermal systems. You can apply for the measures separately or together.
Eligibility
You must live in Holzgerlingen and install the system at a residential building there for private use. Plug-in solar support is for tenants and apartment or building owners. Solar thermal support is for tenants, landowners and people holding a legal right over the property.
- Only first installations qualify. Replacements, extensions, commercial use, leased or rented systems, homemade systems, prototypes, off-grid systems and installations required by law are excluded.
- Follow current law, technical standards and manufacturer instructions. Tenants and apartment owners must obtain landlord or owners’ association permission. Fix the equipment securely so it withstands exceptional weather and no parts can fall.
- Connect plug-in solar equipment to the home network in accordance with DIN VDE V 0126-95 and register it in the Marktstammdatenregister, Germany’s energy-system register.
- For the solar thermal route covered here, a specialist business must install the system and confirm commissioning.
- Keep ownership of the system and use it for at least five years.
- Grants depend on available municipal funds and are not a legal entitlement. The city may suspend support when the same measures are also funded at state, federal or EU level for the applicant group. Incomplete, incorrect or omitted information can lead to repayment.

Complete and sign the city’s application form and send it by email to marc.fietz@holzgerlingen.de or by post to Stadt Holzgerlingen, Sachgebietsleitung Steuern & Haushalt, Böblinger Straße 5–7, 71088 Holzgerlingen.
You can apply before purchase and installation: submit a quotation, wait for the award notice, then buy, install and commission the system. Submit the remaining evidence; payment follows once the city has checked the complete documents.
You can also apply after purchase and installation, but only in the invoice year. Submit the completed form and required evidence; following a positive decision the city pays the grant to your bank account.
The form asks for installation photos, the invoice and proof of payment. Plug-in solar applications also need the registration confirmation and, for the higher rate, a copy of the Familien- und Sozialpass. Solar thermal applications need confirmation of commissioning.
