Grants of up to C$1 million for Canadian municipalities and their partners to put local climate-risk reduction measures in place.

Tämän rahoitusmahdollisuuden kuvaus on toistaiseksi englanniksi.

Use the grant for a stand-alone implementation phase that reduces an identified climate risk as soon as it is complete. Projects can improve public cooling spaces, flood and stormwater protection, wetlands, shorelines, wildfire resilience, backup power or municipal services.

The base grant covers 60% of eligible costs. Four 10-percentage-point incentives can raise the contribution to 100% for qualifying Indigenous or multi-municipality work, small or remote communities, equity-focused projects and nature-positive adaptation.

Eligibility

Canadian municipalities can lead. Municipal corporations, Indigenous communities, nonprofits, non-governmental organisations, research institutes and regional, provincial or territorial organisations that deliver municipal services can participate when partnered with a municipality. For-profit partners are not eligible.

Your community must already have a climate-risk assessment or adaptation plan. The funded phase must have eligible costs no greater than C$1 million, finish within three years and not already be under way. Emergency response and disaster recovery do not qualify.
