Climate-Ready Plans and Processes
Grants of up to CAD 140,000 for Canadian communities to assess several climate hazards and turn the results into adaptation plans, municipal processes and staff capacity.

Develop a community climate-risk or vulnerability assessment, an adaptation plan, climate-focused asset-management work, resilient design standards, hazard mapping or changes to land-use and procurement processes. Training, peer learning and inclusive community engagement can also be part of the project.
The base grant covers 60% of eligible costs. Stackable incentives for smaller, northern, remote or Indigenous communities, equity and reconciliation work, and collaboration can increase support to 100%, subject to the CAD 140,000 award ceiling.
Eligibility
Canadian municipal governments and Indigenous communities can apply. Eligible municipal partners include municipally owned corporations, organisations delivering municipal services, NGOs, nonprofits and research institutes such as universities. For-profit entities cannot be applicants or partners.
Your project must address vulnerabilities from several climate hazards, connect with existing municipal plans, promote equity and inclusion, and set measurable outcomes for reduced climate risk and stronger community resilience. Complete the work within two years of grant approval.
The grant supports proactive adaptation planning, not disaster response or emergency-response preparedness. It does not pay retroactively for activities completed before the full application is submitted.

- Quebec municipal applicants follow a distinct application process.
Complete the application form, project workplan and Climate-Ready Communities Assessment Tool, and add the supporting documents listed in the application guide. Apply through the Green Municipal Fund funding portal. Quebec municipal applicants must submit at the same time through both the Quebec Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH) portal and the FCM funding portal, following the separate instructions on the official page.
