Climate protection grant
Grants for Bissendorf residents and registered associations buying plug-in solar devices or electric cargo bikes, or creating green roofs and façades.

Choose the activity you want to fund:
- A plug-in solar device receives €150, or €300 when bought with combined storage. These small photovoltaic systems connect through a special electricity socket to your house or flat’s electrical circuit.
- A battery-assisted cargo bike receives €1,000. Solar-device and cargo-bike grants cannot exceed your actual eligible expenditure.
- Roof or façade greening receives €10 per square metre, up to €1,000. You must plant at least 15 m². Materials and hiring a company are supported; you can also do the planting yourself.
The municipality pays a one-off grant after checking your payment proof and declaration that the funding conditions have been met. Applications for these activities share an €80,000 budget and are considered in the order that complete, assessable applications arrive. There is no legal entitlement to funding, even if you meet the conditions; you carry the financing risk.
Eligibility
- You must be an individual whose main residence is in Bissendorf, or a registered association with its registered office there. Each household or association may submit one application for each funding item.
- Only purchases qualify. Leasing, renting and purchases from one private individual to another are excluded.
- All funded items must remain installed and in use for at least four years. You are responsible for lawful installation, commissioning and creation of the funded measures.
- Plug-in solar devices must operate within Bissendorf. Roof or façade greening must also be within the municipality.
- A cargo bike must have battery-powered assistance, an extended wheelbase and permanently attached transport capacity that carries more volume and weight than a conventional bicycle. Single-track and two-track cargo bikes, cargo pedelecs and cargo S-pedelecs qualify. Keep the bike in your ownership for at least two years and use it only for private or nonprofit purposes; the common four-year use requirement also applies.
The municipality may inspect funded projects at any time. If you misuse the grant or breach the guideline, it may revoke approval and reclaim payments.

- Complete, assessable applications are considered in arrival order within the €80,000 shared budget. There is no entitlement to an award.[^c12]
Complete the municipality’s application form and send it to foerderung@bissendorf.de, or submit it in writing to Gemeinde Bissendorf, Kirchplatz 1, 49143 Bissendorf. Submit a separate form for each funding item. State the estimated costs; a cost quotation may be attached if available. For greening, attach a photo of the area before planting. The initial application does not need a signature.
Wait for the approval notice before buying equipment or signing a binding purchase or installation contract. Items already bought and purchase or creation contracts already concluded are excluded.
From the approval notice’s issue date, you have up to six months to buy the item, finish any commissioned installation or greening project, and submit payment proof and the use declaration. After that deadline, you lose the entitlement to the grant. Submit the original signed use declaration with the invoice in person or by post. For greening, also attach a photo of the planted area with evidence of its creation date. Payment follows the municipality’s checks; in doubtful cases it may pay subject to reservation.
