Grant for greening your property
Staphorst residents with a property in the municipality can receive grants for replacing paving with plants, green roofs, climbing green facades and living fences.
Tämän rahoitusmahdollisuuden kuvaus on toistaiseksi englanniksi.
Staphorst’s Klimaatsubsidie helps you adapt your property to climate change and support biodiversity. This entry covers individual applications for four greening measures.
- Replace at least 5 m² of paving with grass, plants, shrubs or trees: €5 per m² of paving removed, up to €500.
- Install a green roof: €20 per m², up to €2,000 per address. A green roof must have a root barrier, substrate and a vegetation layer mainly of living plants that grow very slowly and are largely self-sufficient. It can also be installed on your bin enclosure.
- Install a climbing green facade: €30 per m² of climbing structure, up to €1,500. Plants must root in the ground on your own property and climb a purpose-built structure attached to the facade. Work in public space is excluded.
- Install a living fence: €20 per linear metre, up to €500. It must consist of living plants rooted in the ground, such as a hedge or climbing plants, with or without a supporting structure.
The grant covers costs directly connected with the work. Costs of applying for the grant or necessary permits, and VAT you can reclaim or otherwise recover, are excluded. Payment follows approval.
Eligibility
You must own, rent or lease a legally built property in Staphorst listed in the Dutch register of addresses and buildings (BAG). This entry covers Staphorst residents carrying out non-business projects. Tenants and lessees need the owner’s written permission. If work is on a property boundary, obtain written permission from the neighbours.
For trees planted as part of replacing paving, the mature tree must not be within 0.5 metres of the boundary and its species must not appear in Annex 1’s invasive-tree blacklist in the municipal rules.
You cannot receive another grant for an activity already subsidised at that property, or for a comparable activity already funded under the previous Staphorst climate-adaptation scheme. Follow the installation/use instructions, comply with applicable law and permits, and maintain the completed measure.
The municipality may also refuse an application if the work does not sufficiently benefit Staphorst or its residents, the need for subsidy is not demonstrated, or the application or award fails the legal requirements.
How to apply

- Apply within six months of completion. The property measures share €20,000 per calendar year in 2026 and 2027. Complete applications are ranked by arrival, with a same-day lottery if needed.
- The regulation is in force through 31 December 2027.
Check the rules before starting. Take a before photo, complete the work, take an after photo and keep dated receipts or invoices. Apply through Staphorst’s municipal application page within six months of completing the work. If you bought no materials, provide evidence that the work was completed within those six months. Include any required permit and written permissions.
The application button opens a form operated by Olst-Wijhe, which processes Staphorst’s claims. In the form, declare that you live in Staphorst. If approved, the money is paid into your account. The municipality normally decides within eight weeks and may extend that once by four weeks; the grant amount is fixed when approved.
Applications are handled in the order they become complete. The individual-property measures share a €20,000 annual budget in 2026 and again in 2027; same-day applications are ranked by lottery if their combined awards would exceed the remaining budget. Funding depends on money remaining, and the six-month deadline still applies.
Follow any reporting instructions in your award decision. Notify the municipality immediately if you cannot meet the grant obligations, and promptly report relevant changes in writing, including changes in arrangements with third parties or decisions to end the funded activity.
