Klimatklivet
Grants for businesses, municipalities and other organizations investing in lower climate emissions in Sweden.

You can get support for physical investments that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
Companies can receive up to 70% of investment costs, subject to state-aid rules. For other applicants, support is limited to what the investment needs to go ahead, up to 50%. These are ceilings, not promised rates.
Eligibility
Businesses, municipalities, regional authorities, associations, housing associations, foundations and other organizations can apply. You cannot apply as a private individual.
Your investment must meet these conditions:
- It must be a physical investment at local or regional level that reduces emissions compared with not making it.
- It must need the grant to go ahead. Your organization must be able to pay the rest and carry out the project.
- You must not start work or order necessary materials or equipment before the funding decision. Preparatory studies, site searches, permit applications, project management and non-binding grid-connection enquiries may begin earlier.
Electricity generation is normally excluded. One exception is electricity made from biogas produced by anaerobic digestion, using stationary engines installed at a fixed location. All other funding conditions still apply.
Test and pilot projects without a clear emissions reduction do not qualify.
Investments in activities covered by the EU's emissions allowance trading system are normally excluded too. There are two exceptions: using waste heat that would otherwise be lost, and investments outside the core activity. An example of the latter is recycling plastic to reduce the burning of fossil-based plastic. If the project cuts emissions within the trading system, your investment calculation must include the cost of emissions allowances.
Other investment grants and climate rules can also exclude a project from Klimatklivet. Naturvårdsverket's guidance explains the applicable rules and exceptions.
Marketing is excluded. Legally required measures cannot receive support; going beyond legal or permit requirements may qualify. The same distinction applies to procurement requirements.
Replacing diesel with HVO biodiesel—hydrotreated vegetable oil—is excluded when the diesel is covered by Sweden's reduction obligation. This obligation requires those liable for tax on diesel to reduce the fuel's greenhouse-gas emissions. An exception may apply where no other policy measure covers the switch, such as in shipping.
